What could cause a1991 suzuki samurai to have no fire from a new coil?


no spark from coil directly?
is the cam turning, is the dizzy rotor spinning. ????

check all fuses first. Ig-coil, FI and dome.
then using diagnostic jumper wire or fuse, (as approp)
crank engine look for code 41 o 42.!!!

our cars are all EFI that year.
no engine swaps to Suzuki G16A/B sidekick or tracker engines.!
1: engine cranks
2: no spark
3: The ECu makes spark
the CMP sensor in the DIzzy , (never fails if rotor turns, does rotor turn, if not cam belt igored and now snapped.)
the cam turns. the CMP fires. the ECU takes this CMP signal
and fires the ignitor next to coil and the coil charges, and release and BAM spark.

that is it.
the ECU will tell you when the CMP dies or the Ignitor fails
why not ask it.
1: key on
2: diagnostic jumper in place (flashes 12s for ok)
3: crank engine,for 5sec, not 1 ,not 2.
3: release key not off.
4: see code 41, or 42, BINGO !@!!!!

Why is there no spark from spark plug 1995 k1500 silveraldo


1995 silverado has a distributor, remove the the distributor cap, make sure the distributor spins with the engine. also make sure the ignition rotor is not burned out or have a hole were it makes contact with the cap. also make sure the cap has a good carbon inside to make contact with the rotor, at this time get a screw driver, put it on the end of the wire from the coil to the cap, don't touch the metal part of the screwdriver, it will shock you if good, so put it at 5/16 from any metal on the engine, bracket, alternator , thermostat housing no matter, some one turns the engine over, check to see if the coil produces a spark, if the rotor turns, if ok it should have spark on all the wires, if it has no spark, remove the wire from the ignition coil and check if you have spak at the coil, if you have no spark, try getting a wire lead, connect it from the battery ground on one end, a screw driver on the coil to check for spark, and the other end of the wire with the key on, touch the - negative plug on the coil, that should produce a spark, if not spark yet, make sure you do have power at the coil with key on, if you do and it doesn't produce spark, replace coil. if it does spark but it is weak or yellow in color, replace coil. if coil is fine, replace distributor module,

REMOVAL
Always remove the ignition coil assembly by grasping at the spark plug boot, turning the assembly 1/2 turn and pulling straight back in a steady motion.
  • Prior to removing the spark plug, spray compressed air around the coil area and spark plug.
  • Remove electrical connector from ignition coil.
On 3.5L engines, it is necessary to loosen the screws by alternating back and forth. Do not lose the spacers under the coil when loosening the screws.
  • Remove 2 fasteners from ignition coil.
  • Remove ignition coil assembly.
  • Remove the spark plug using a quality socket with a rubber or foam insert.
  • Inspect the spark plug condition.
INSTALLATION
Always remove the ignition coil assembly by grasping at the spark plug boot, turning the assembly 1/2 turn and pulling straight back in a steady motion.
  • To avoid cross threading, start the spark plug into the cylinder head by hand.
  • 3.5L engines tighten spark plugs to 28 N·m (20 ft. lbs.) torque, 2.7L engine tighten spark plugs to 17.6 N·m (13 ft. lbs.).
  • Install ignition coil assembly onto spark plug.
  • Install coil screws and tighten: 2.7L engine to 6.2 N·m (55 in. lbs.), 3.5L engines to 6.7 N·m (60 in. lbs.).
  • Connect the electrical connector.

How to replace 1997 buick inition coil


I just did one the other day. There are three coils. You can determine which one is bad by using the number one spark plug wire and an old spark plug. Put the spark plug in the wire ( while it is still in the coil) and ground the plug against the engine block. Make sure it is grounded solidly to metal or you could get a nasty shock. Have someone start the engine. Look at the spark. It should be fat and blue. Turn the engine off as soon as you have seen the quality of the spark. Pull one of the wires from each coil in sequence and move the number one wire to that coil. Proceed as above. The weak coil(s) will have intermittent spark, yellow spark or maybe none at all. Once you know which coil(s) are bad remove the two small screws at the ends of the coil. They hold the coil down. Pick the coil straight up, pulling the contacts out of the ignition module. Set the new coil in place and screw it down. Both towers spark every time the coil fires so reinstall the wires in either spot on a given coil. Good Luck

According to the obd code i am getting a misfire in the number one cyln and it kind of sputters what is causing it


1. Bad or fouled Spark Plug at #1 Cylinder.
2. Bad or misfiring Wire going from the #1 on the Distributor/Electronic Ignition Coil to the #1 Cylinder.
3. Misfiring at the #1 on the Distributor/Electronic Iginition Coil.

a. Unplug the #1 Wire at the #1 on the Distributor/Electronic Ignition Coil.
b. Using an Auto electrical testing: Probe, wire and ground clip electrical, stick the Probe into the opening at the #1 Distributor/Electronic Ignition Coil. Use the grounding clip - clipped to a portion on the engine.
c. Start the Vehicle and check for rhythmic spark.
d. If there is NOT rhythmic spark, the Distributor/Electronic Ignition Coil needs to be replaced.
e. Turn off the engine.
f. If there is rhythmic spark: Reconnect the #1 Wire at #1 on the Distrubutor/Electronic Igntion Coil.
g. Disconnect the #1 Wire from the #1 Spark Plug.
h. Again using an Auto electrical testing: Probe, wire and ground clip. Insert the Probe into the end of the #1 Wire and clip the ground clip onto the engine.
i. Start the engine again.
j. Again Check for rhythmic spark.
k. If there is NOT rhythmic spark the #1 Wire needs to be replaced. (Replace all Wires as a Set).
l. If there is rhythmic spark then the #1 Wire is fine.
m. Turn off the engine,
n. Remove and Inspect the #1 Spark Plug. Clean if necessary and Regap.
o. Reinstall the Spark Plug and reconnect the #1 Wire.
p. Restart the engine.
q, If the code reappears:
r. Replace all the Spark Plugs.

Engine turns no spark


No spark can result from a bad coil or bad ignition module. If there is electrical signals at the primary coil but no spark then there is a problem with a coil. if there is no electrical signal at a primary coil then there is a problem with the ignition module. Here is the image of your coil. The 2 metal screws sticking out for wiring are the terminals of the primary coil. Need to test that to determine the root cause of the problem. Good Luck.8cf6119.jpg

NO SPARK FROM PLUGS


REMOVE DIST. CAP AND CRANK ENGINE SEE IF ROTOR TURN IF IT NOT, CHECK TIMING BELT, IF IT TURNS CHECK FOR SPARK ON DIST. CAP WHERE COIL WIRE GOES IF SPARK CHANGE OUT SPARK PLUG WIRES.IF NO SPARK CHECK IGNITION COIL AND PICK UP COIL.

Timing controls when spark happens ...it does not make spark. make sure coil and all other ignition trigger devices are good (crank sensor, cam sensor, wiring and pcm) You can get info for tests from inexpensive manuals such as chiltons or haynes and using a digital volt/ohmeter.

Cant find the spark plug location on 2002 4cyl tacoma


Locate the spark plug cover on the engine.On some Toyota Tacoma engines, the cover is across the top of the engine. On others, it is along the side 4 cyl. Remove the cover to reveal the ignition coils and spark plugs wires. The spark plug wires are plugged directly into the engine and the ignition coils are in the tip of the spark plug wire.
Remove the coil and wire from the spark plug. Twist and pull the plug out of the engine. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder well with a socket extender and socket wrench. Turn the wrench to the left to unscrew the spark plug from the engine.

Discard the old spark plug and apply a coat of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plug.

Insert the new spark plug into the socket. Use the socket and extension to screw the spark plug into place.

Return the ignition coils and spark plug wires to the engine and turn it to lock the plug in place. Repeat the entire the process with the remaining spark plugs.

Replace the spark plug cover when all of the spark plugs are replaced.

Good luck and hope this helps and The spark plug tension may range between 11 and 15 foot pounds, depending on the size of the spark plug. The correct tension is indicated on the spark plug's packaging.

you probbably damaged the distributor coil when you pulled the wire off
recommendations:
try pulling battery lose for few and see if it helps
replace distibutor coil and wires to plugs and replace plugs
