This isn't an awfully difficult process. Chock the wheels, remove the drive shafts, disconnect all wires and hoses from T-case and remove the nuts (6?) mounting the t-case to transmission. A small-fair amount of oil will be lost. Weighs 100 pounds +/- so be prepared or have a jack to assist.

Transfer case

A bit more information would be handy. If it is only a how to check the T-case fluid then its simple: just remove the upper (fill) plug on the aft side of the T-case housing. The fluid should be at the top of the hole or even spill out a bit. The jeep should be on level ground to do this check right. Which fluid it eventual needs depends on which T-case it has.

Have a 2005 liberty 3.7 trying to install into a 2002 liberty but motor will not bolt up to trans. due to somthing on end of crank hitting converter? fixable problem?

If the engine was for a manual, there will be a pilot shaft bushing there. Not sure if removing it will help or not,the crank maybe different,if this is a used engine, you may have to get the converter from the other vehicle,if it was a automatic also.

if you are driving on pavement in 4wd, STOP you will damage your transfercase or axles. 4wd is intended for low traction conditions, that dose not include wet pavement.

Stuck in four wheel in front tire only.

If Jeep is equip with push button 4x4 try this.
If you are stuck in four wheel drive disengage four wheel try backing it up 10ft to re aline transfercase gears.( Also linkage under truck maybe stuck.)

If Jeep is equip with lever on floor.
This one is a common problem lever on floor becomes stuck and won't let you disengage it. Have to Spray linkage with WD-40 or some kind of penetrating spray under truck where the linkage comes out of the floorand goes to the transfercase.

(Floor lever, Its tuff to get it to release I know I went through the same problem on my truck I had push it into 2wheel by using my leg.)

4 wheel drive not working

sounds to me like the transfer case clutches are worn out. also the fluid could be low or dirty. try draining and refilling the transfercase with clean fluid. if it is still not working after driving it around for a few miles then you may need to replace or overhaul your transfercase
