How to change positive battery cable

START BY REMOVING THE NEGATIVE CABLE FROM THE BATTERY. REMOVE THE POSITIVE CABLE FROM BOTH TERMINALS, REPLACE WITH THE NEW ONE. AFTER THIS ONE IS SOLID IN PLACE AND THE CONNECTIONS ARE TIGHT, RECONNECT THE NEGATIVE CABLE.
SEE IN THE OWNERS MANUAL IF THERE IS A RESET PROCEDURE (BATTERY CHANGE).

How to change a bettery on a 2002 ford focus

Look at your old battery and make note of the brackets installation and the terminal (positive and negative ) locations. Remove the positive cable, then the negative cable where they attach to the battery poles. POSITIVE cables are normally RED.....NEGATIVE cables are normally BLACK. Remove the battery hold down bracket making sure you do not place anything metal across the two battery poles. Install the new battery into the battery tray, attach the hold down brackets, the attach the negative cable end then the positive end. BE VERY CAREFUL and DO NOT GET BATTERY ACID on you or SHORT ACROSS the battery poles with any metalic object. If you have not done this before and are buying a new battery from an auto center....they will...most times.....install the battery for you free of charge

Changing a dead battery?

Loosen the clamps on the battery and remove. Replace with new battery of the same type and place the clamps back on making sure that positive(red) is on the positive connector and negative(black) with the negative connector. Or go to autozone, they will do it for you:)

How do you change the battery

Disconnect negative side of battery first (to avoid accidental touching of wrench to ground - although battery may be dead) then positive side. There should be a rubber wedge at the bottom of the battery with a bolt going through the center. This will need to be removed so the battery can be lifted out. Reinstall in the reverse order - being sure to put the ground cable (negative) side of the battery on last for the reason previously mentioned. The positive of the battery will be marked with a + the negative side with a - Also the positive cable should be red and the negative black. This may not apply if some one put the wrong cables in place so be sure, before removing cables, to observe their orientation.

Hello. Yes. the black wire is the ground wire. It goes from the frame to the negative post of the battery. The red wire is the hot wire and it goes to the positive post.

Need to charge battery on my chevy venture. Please show me how

Okay... One can not see the negative battery terminal so.... Connect the negative clip from your charger to the chassis and then remove the RED plastic cover in front of the black relay box above the battery OR the plastic cover from the positive battery terminal and connect the positive cable. Make sure you have good connections by watching the meter on your charger. Then plug in the charger and turn it on. Charge time depends on the strength of your charger. I'm going to go hook mine up again because I need to go out for a bit. I don't think I'm going to like changing this battery..... Just thought I'd share..... Good luck.

Battery cables FRYED!

Battery cables can be purchased at any auto parts store. Always remove the Negative cable first. The positive cable connects to the solenoid to the starter. After removing both cables, connect the positive cable to eh solenoid to the starter, and route it up to the battery. If the new battery has protective caps on it, leave them on for now. Connect the negative cable to the ground. Connect the positive cable to the battery (remove the caps) Once secure, connect the negative cable to the battery (be very careful not to touch anything metal) IMPORTANT: Make sure the Positve cable is connected tot eh Positeve battery terminal (indicated by the + sign. The Negative cable connects to teh Negative post indicated by the - sign. I hope this answers your question fully and best of luck to you!

A month ago I bought A used 2000 elantra it used to start fpr the first try In the same time I changed the engine oil and Trying to put a good battery when I finished it did not start.

Verify (test) the battery is good/charged. Verify good, clean cable connections (positive & negative, correct polarity). Inspect positive and negative cables for loosness (positive cable condition to starter connection - clean/tight) negative cable condition to ground connection clean/tight). Replace/repair/clean/tighten cable(s) as needed. Did you remove/disconnect any components from the engine when you replaced the battery? If so, did you remember to put/reconnect them back?

How do I change the battery on a 1999 volkswagon beetle?

Open the battery compartment. Loosen the bolt on the negative battery post first. Then remove the negative cable from the battery. Do the same to the positive cable. Remove the hold down bracket with a 10mm wrench. Lift out the battery please keep in mind it has acid in it. Now replace with new battery and connect the cables negative to negative , and positive to positive. You may need to reset your radio stations on your car.
