In laymans terms this sensor is telling the ecu when to start the firing sequence to the coil / coil packs.
on certain vehicles it it also a speed sensor too.
Generally, if there is a fault with this sensor or the wiring to it...the car will not start (no signal).

It should not be hitting the flywheel. You need a professional to look into this problem with a full function scanner to watch the crank sensor signal in real time.

What is the function of a crankshaft sensor

The sensor takes readings off of the flywheel and sends signals to the ECM allowing the car to run Most of the time replacing the sensor will solve your problem unlees you have a wiring issue or the flywheel is damaged but that is unlikely

Passat crankshaft sensor

Hi. The amx does not ahve a flywheel pick up. the crank sensor g28 is on the side of the block. The flywheel have offset bolts so can only be fitted in the correct position. The best way to set tdc is with a special tool that goes into the side of the block at g28 sensors hole, or to set tdc with a dial gauge on cylinder 1.

Crank position sensor is hitting flywheel flywheel got damaged somehow can I bend it down with out a problem or is a new one a must need

What type of car is this..but to answer your question the flywheel would have to be out of round to make contact with the crank sensor i suspect you have a cracked or broken flywheel most of the time they will break at the center of the flywheel where the crankshaft attaches to the flywheel and would still drive for some time

Cranksensor trouble on nissan navara 2006

there is almost no way to miss align the flywheel! did you checked side by side for proper fit and all the slots matched , if you didn't i would get one fro the same place and match the old one, Also did you remove the sensor before replacing the flywheel? if you didn't you may have a broken sensor.

Jeep spits and sputters, runs good for a few minutes then starts to sputter. has new plugs, wires, coil, throddle position sensor, cylenoid, fuel filter, and still runs bad.

Have you scanned it for codes. The is a crank shaft sensor that could also be the problem. It will set a code. It is located (sitting in drivers seat) at 2:00 on the bell of the trans bolted to the motor. It is a hall effect switch that reads spaces on the flywheel. If you have had any trans work done they may have buggered up the spaces on the flywheel. Or it may be the sensor. Also have you done a good fuel injection cleaning and check each injector to see if it si functioning. Put a long screw drive one each one or a stethoscope if you have one and see if it is clicking regularly.

Check Engine light came on and car stalled

Crank Sensor usually have two function,1st the sensor sense the rotation of the flywheel and picks up by the sensor than the sensor send a sigle to your computer telling your computer to send sparks and fuel to to the engine. When sensor goes bad engine quits running, sometime check engine lights come on as computer is not sending no fuel or sparks. Some car has two sensor, one for the fuel and one for sparks. The sensor usually locate next to the flywheels near the main crank. Some are difficult to get to; others are easy. 4cyc on foreign are easy to get to compare to domestic. V6 front wheel drive I find it difficult and V8 rear wheel drive are better. If you plan to keep the car and fix it yourself, the best thing to do is invest and purchase Chilton Repair Manual if planning do it yourself, it will save you lots of money in the future. On 96' breeze should be a breeze to fix, from experience working on Dodge and Chrysler are fairly easy to work on.

Correct flywheel installation '90 240 B230 w/5 SPD transmission

you should have index holes on the flywheel this is to keep the balance of the crankshaft of the motor. the sensor on the back is the knock sensor. your index hole on the flywheel should line up with the holes on the crank. in most instances they should only fit one way. also make sure you put the right side facing the engine. this is important other wise you won't be able to connect the trans and the starter won't match up right.....please rate..thanks
