Question about 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer

1 Answer

I have Trailblazer LS 2008 model. I am using this vehicle for the last one year and it covers upto 65000 miles. Since the winter season started, My vehicle is facing intermittent problem. The temperature gauge on CLUSTER starts showing ZERO while driving specially in the morning once temperature is less. At the same time, Air Conditioner also stops working. Similarly, Temperature Gauge starts working fine and comes back to its center position while driving specially at noon once temperature is little more. At the same time, Air Conditioner also starts working fine. I have changed the gauge, Temperature sensor and wiring check but having same intermittent problem. This problem repeats once a weak while driving. No one is able to identify the problem. I am facing this problem for the last 5 months and all mechanics and electricians failed to identify the root cause. Please help me.

Check for a bad earth in the system . Possibly the earth strap on the motor or dirty battery terminals . IF the temp gauge will not work (bad earth ) and the ac stops working ( cabin air temp reaches setting) or the circuit has an earth problem switching off the ac. Check all wires for broken , not connected properly and check each earth point for clean and tight.

take the cap off of the radiator (whil engine is cold) start and run the vehicle. keep runnig 30mins after the vehicle is hot keeping notice of the rad fluid level.
keeping the cap off will prevent the pressure build up that woiuld keep the air in the system, keep adding water or antifreeze as the level goes down. this may take an hour or so.
also with the cap off, you will be able to see if your water pump is operating correctly. you will visibly be able to see movement in the rad when the pum is engaged.

SOURCE: temperature gauge is inaccurate and check engine

Have you checked the antifreeze level lately? Low antifreeze will cause a temp sensor to give false readings. Does your heater work OK, as in does it blow hot air when heater is on? that is another symptom of low antifreeze.

As far as the check engine light coming off and on, I would bet it is the oxygen sensor that might need to be replaced.

How often do i change the oil on a mercury mountaineer 2005?

It depends on how many miles you drive annually, the environment your vehicle is driven in (dusty, hot, cold, humid, dry, etc), the type of oil you use (conventional, synthetic blend, or full synthetic), and the condition of your car's engine. You should consult your owner's manual and the data on your engine oil.

I drive a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer 5,0L and drive it about 1,500 miles annually. I use a synthetic blend oil and change my oil and oil filter twice a year. I change the oil in the spring so I have fresh oil for the hot summer driving season and I change my truck's oil in the fall after the hot summer driving season. Because my Mountaineer has a lot of miles on it, I use thinner oil in the winter 5/20 and thicker oil in the summer 10/20. I check my oil regularly and look at the color and feel the oil for grit. This has worked for me for many years and I have had good performance from my vehicles.

You can go on the different oil manufacture's websites and read their recommendations as well. There has been much debate about when to change the oil in a vehicle so you have to decide for yourself what schedule you want to follow.

I looked up the application at SummitRacing.com and found BellTech Lowering springs. Looked at all applications and it showed that the SSR, Trailblazer and Envoy also use the same springs.

My odometer is 110,000 that a subaru 2008 outback is that bad,i bought only last week

  • Not to bad. Outback is a good vehicle. With so many miles and it only being a 2008 I am inclined to think this was a highway traveled vehicle more than in town. This is good because highway miles is far better on a vehicle than in town miles. Some maintenance you need to either confirm has been done or inspected to see if it needs to be done. May also have some warranty with it to but warranties often do not cover preventative maintenance.
  1. Transmission flush - 20,000 miles
  2. Transmission Filter - 50,000 miles
  3. Radiator flush. - 30,000 miles
  4. Air filter. - As needed.
  5. Oil change. - 3 months or 3,000 miles - usually right away with new vehicle.
  6. Emissions clean. - 25,000 miles
  7. Brake inspection. Right away with new vehicle.
  8. Serpentine belt - 50,000 miles inspect often.
  9. Alignment check - Check is often free.
  10. Tires.

How long will the engine last?

Engines are like us humans. The better care they get the longer they last
\Change the oil at every 3000 to 4000 miles and do the preoper suggested maintenance by Fords outline in their manual for a long life
I own a 2000 Mountaineer with 190000 miles. It still runs like new although the body is starting to rot
The oil is changed every 4000 or sooner
Tuneups are done at 65000
Suspension is checked every year
