The tracks on these windows are made of plastic. They can dry out crack and even break completely. Rain water getting in open windows can also mess up the power windows. You would have to take the door panel off to check that. Since it does go down partially I would think the switch is still fine. The piece is called a window regulator.

How to fix back seat passenger window on my car ?

The gear, that is attached to the actuator that moves that window up and down, may be stripped out or the actuator may be getting jammed at a certain point. The only way to really know for sure is to pull the inside door cover off and watch the actuator when you make the window go up and down. DO NOT PUT YOUR FINGERS NEAR THE ACTUATOR WHILE IT IS MOVING. Just take your time and you will be able to figure it out.

I have a 1999 BMW 328iS. Windows don't work! Have done a lot to troubleshoot the problem! What next?

It might be a coincidence with the sun roof, but all makes and models of cars have window and door lock problems with age. Two things happen as a car ages. In most cases, the drivers door opens and closes more often than the rest of the doors, also your more likely to leave the drivers window open and it rains in on the controls. The majority of the time, it's the wiring at the door hedge that bends back and forth & breaks when you get in and out of your vehicle. Everyone's situation is different depending on use/mileage.
Example: Delivery driver, miles 50k window/door lock problem.
Highway daily driver 150k miles with no problems.

You can sometime check this your self. Turn on your ignition where the windows should work. "engine does not have to start" Sit in the drivers seat, hold down the window up/down button while moving the door in question to open & close. If the window tries to move at any time, the wires are wore in half. This does not always work, but I have had great luck trouble shooting electrical door problems using this method. If you have doors with no wires, clean the contact points. Hatchbacks & minivans use this system. Hope this helps.

Drivers window quit working, I replaced the switch and it still wont work, starts to work but stops

window motor has gone bad old and worn out let me guess when it does work it barely wants to move then finally gives up. that sounds like your problem. Theres also another thing some window motors have a stoping point I guess you could say like a memory I had a bmw one that the window went half way down and then would stop plenty of power it would go right back up no problem and back to the same spot when I rulled it down thats because it believed the window was all the way down I had to unbolt the window motor push the button to roll the motor all the way up and manully put the window all the way up then bolt the motor back on but you shouldnt run into this unless you just replaced the window motor so to answer your question replace the motor also its not a relay or fuse if it was you would have problems with all the other windows

My driver side window stopped working. I had the window resetter ( or something like that) fixed cause my window fell in the door. After that it sounded like something was dragging against the glass when...

sounds like the power window motor has failed. You can get this part with or without the window regulator. It's like $20 cheaper to get the motor without the regulator but way more complicated to replace. If you heard a rubbing sound after the first time something could have been left untightened. If it hasn't been too long maybe they will warranty it for you, but the part at your local store was less than $100 when I did one a coupkle of months ago.

I have a 2010 Toyota Camry with a front passenger window problem. The window goes up and comes right back down sometimes when I push the button to roll the window up. The window will finally stay up...

Hello Susan..... What you are experiencing is the jam protection function: During automatic
closing operation, the window stops and opens half way if something gets caught
between the window and window frame. If the window receives a strong impact,
this function may work even if nothing is caught.

If the power window does not operate automatically or the jam protection function does not operate correctly, you should normalize the power window
To normalize the power window:
1. Push down the power window switch and lower the windows fully.
2. Pull up the switch until the windows close and hold the switch for a second. Make sure that the window open and close automatically. If the power windows cannot be operated properly, have it
checked by your dealer.
