If it cranks but won't start, you have a bad camshaft sensor. It's located at the back of the driver side valve cover. Takes 20 minutes to replace. I had exact problem and this solved it.

My 1990 Geo Prizm GSI will start, but it won't keep running when the weather is cold.

Sounds like the automatic choke control on the carburator is shot! It is stopping the proper flow of gas from getting to the engine...replace it! Also make sure you have recently replaced the fuel filter; moisture in the gas will stick to the filter and freeze up making it hard for gas to get through!

The evaporative system failed on emissions for my 87 Ford Ranger 2.9l engine, any suggestions what might be wrong

It can't be filled up because it leaks, or won't take anymore gas? Check the hose from the fuel filler to the tank for kinks or restrictions, if you have leaks, fill it up and trace the leak. Either problem will cause EVAP codes, hard starts, and cause vehicle to die.

Car won;t start after fillig up the gas task

It might be your fuel pump, if you turn your key to the setting right before your car turns on and you hear nothing, it maybe your fuel pump, if you do hear a buzz then try replacing your fuel filter before it strains your fuel pump

A friend put oil into a gas tank I used to fill my truck up. Truck won't start but it keeps turning trying to. Now I believe the fuel injector is clogged or dirty and is keeping my truck from starting....

yeah sound like your fuel injectors are clogged...I would first change and the fuel filters and go to wal mart and buy "sea foam" fuel injector cleaner its in a white and red metal can this stuff is awesome!...and add it too a full tank of gas run the vehicle till the gas tank is empty..if this doesn't fix it you will need to flush out the entire fuel system and flush out the fuel tank

Smell gas in car

Look for fuel leaks in the engine bay or back by the tank where you fill up the the tank. A little bit of gas will go a long way so if you had spilled a little while removing the nozel at the gas station the filler neck will disperse of it, sometimes it gathers on the inside of the fender, and causing for a smell that may not be an issue. On the other hand if you notice the smell under the hood you may have a leaking fuel line, check to see if anyone has replaced the fuel filter recently sometimes the technician does not tighten the lines securely causing a little fuel leak. other times its just a little fuel spray from not releasing the pressure before removing the filter may have sprayed the fuel on the car onto maybe the insulation. One thing to do is look under the car while it is running myabe after filling it up to check for leaks. If your notice a drip while the A/C is running dont be alarmed as this is the condensation dripping off as it is supposed to.
