Question about 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT

1 Answer

I can't unlock the car doors with the switch on the inside of the car. Locked myself in the car and had to roll down the windows and unlock the front door with the key from the outside before I could get out. Is this a fuse problem or what?

2007 pontiac G5 door assembly

The lock may be stuck in locked position in the latch assembly.
Roll the window down, reach inside the door and move the lock button to unlock JUST as you give the door a severe whack with a rubber hammer at the outside door edge 1/2 way down the door at the door latch area.
It may take more than one try to unlock the door,if that's what is wrong, but usually is.

I have a 95 saturn 2 door, the passenger door is stuck closed. The power lock triggers but still wont open from inside or out. Please help!!!

This usually works.
Take a rubber hammer, roll down the window, then manually unlock the door using the inside unlock button (not the power lock button) while you give the door a good whack about half way down where the door lock assembly holds the door closed to the car body.It may take a few whacks and a few lock/unlock cycles but this usually allows the lock to release and you can open the door.NOW.....take off the door panel and lube that lock assembly and don't close the door unless the lock can be locked and UNLOCKED.

Passenger window won't roll down and inside unlock button doesn't unlock doors??

Replace the passenger side window regulator. And replace the master switch on the drivers door for the locks. Year make and model helps. You could have a bad wire for the locks going to the BCM.

Passenger side door on 1998 olds 88 locked and cant get it open even with key

Doubtful. I'd recommend a good locksmith to come pop the lock for you fron the window channel. If you know what to look for, just roll down the window, find the lock linkage, and pop the lock yourself.

Keys are locked in car

Aside from breaking out a window or calling a locksmith your best bet is going to be using a piece of wire (like an old clothes hanger) to stick through the seal a the top of the window to either press the unlock button for the electric locks, unlock the door, or (provided you have manual windows) to roll down the window enough you can get your hand inside to unlock the door. Of course, if your GM vehicle is equipped with onstar and you have a valid subscription and power locks, you could call them and they could unlock it for you.

Outside handle on 1997 Toyota Avalon will not open door

Since you can get the door open, half the battle is already won. Yes, open the door, pull the interior door panel and take a look around. Watch inside with a flashlight (towards the rear of the door) as you roll the window down to see if you can see what it's snagged on.

I have a 92 Lexus ES300. I went to roll down the passenger window, accidentally hit both passenger window buttons at the same time on the driver door switch panel. Both windows rolled down about an inch,...

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all you’ll need to check battery voltage, recharge it if it is low or jump start with another battery charger. Inspect, clean and tight both ends of all battery cables. Also check, clean and tight wiring connections. Check for voltage at relay. If relay has voltage but there is no "click" when key is turned to start, replace relay. Remove starter and inspect drive gear and flywheel teeth, replace damaged parts if necessary. Check to see if voltage reaches starter relay/solenoid when turn to start. If not, check for open P/N switch and brake or clutch pedal switch. Please pry the interior panel and release the inside door locks. If still the issue is not resolved then you’ll need to drill a two inch hole into the latch to access the inside lock link through the interior panel. After removing the panel replaces the latch to resolve the issue. See the picture where to drill---

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
