Hi christian hutton, I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?

Did the vehicle run before or did you just get it cheap not currently running?
Did it die out while driving or just not start one morning?
Be sure to check your oil level and for contamination (coolant).
-It's a big Duh but basics typically get over looked, ALWAYS check you basics first-
Does the engine sound normal while cranking, like it has compression and cranking at a normal speed?
Does it have good spark AT the plugs while cranking?
What was your fuel psi reading?
Are you POSITIVE the timing chain is installed/ timed correctly?

Check the valve timing after replacing the chain. check that you connected the ignition module to the coil. Check ignition timing as you may be out 180 degrees on the timing.

Have you checked for spark at the plugs? Are you certain that the timing chain and tensioner were installed properly? Camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor are OK? Without the right signal, nothing happens. Have you checked the coil packs, plug wires, and spark plugs? If there is no spark while cranking, you'll have to figure out why, and a shop manual is about the only way to go to do that. If you have spark, then you need to check for fuel at the injectors and the proper injector signal. Have you checked for fuel pressure at the rail? Does the fuel pump run? Is the fuel filter plugged?
It could also be a wiring problem somewhere in the electrical harness. If the right wire or wires are broken or corroded, then it could easily keep the engine from running. Even a loose or broken connector or a bent connector pin can cause all sorts of headaches.

Ignition control module issues

A relative of mine has a '97 GMC 1500. 2 years ago I spent several weeks chasing gremlins on it. Replaced everything - plugs, wires, ICM, TPS, and some other items. How many miles on your truck? It should fire within 1 to 3 turns of starter engagement. I have to ask, how do you know there is no spark or fuel when the engine does not start? Have you checked fuel pressure? Our trouble ended up being the fuel pump. We pulled the bed off the truck and found that the lines and wires at the top of the tank were severely rusting and eroding. I would have never guessed this kind of degradation due to the fact that the truck is so well taken care of. Check your fuel pump and tank thoroughly. Also check the tank filler neck and vent. If it runs for 15 minutes then quits, sounds like the fuel pump might be cutting out. Will not hurt to check and may save you time under the hood. I have poured over those electrical diagrams for the GMC. Alot of things tied into keeping those engines going nowadays. Let me know how things work out. GC.

My gmc 4.3 stalls when warm and wont start without ether. then it runs fine

I had the exact problem with my 1993 chevy c1500. I found that the IAC was sticking so the engine would die at idle after warming up and the ignition module was pulsing the ECM intermittently after the engine warmed up so the fuel pump wasn't being turned on after the engine died....I replaced the ignition module and the IAC valve and all is good. I don't know if testing the ignition module reveals that it isn't sending pulses to the ECM.

My chevy c1500 1993 model truck just all at once stopped running,i checked all usual fuel lines,pump.relay,o2 ,carborator, fuel ports, vaccumm lines, egr valve, fuses, and replced fuel filter 2 times to be...

The first thing is to make sure you are getting fuel to throttlebody see if it sprays, this year is fuel injected not carburated, if so good. next is to test for spark. remove a plugwire and stick a screwdriver into the boot and place screwdriver near metal ground have someone crank motor and see if theres spark, it sounds like you check everything except spark the most common problem with these would be the ignition contorl module, this is located under the dist cap, remove two connector and two screws and it removes have it tested at parts store, this when bad may also stop the injector from spraying fuel, this sounds like its your problem, they are easy to replace. hope the helps and also herea picture of the control module.86262cc.jpg
