SOURCE: I removed the brake pads (to check out thickness)

have the dealer run a test on the system and see what trouble codes show up, that will tell u where to look for the problem, it makes no sense why you have no brakes, so this test is essential.

No, your brakes should have a stiff pedal regardless of anything going wrong electrically in the car. You better look for brake fluid leaking out. Try not to let the reservoir run dry while you're looking for the leak, as that will introduce more air into the lines. Let us know what you find and if we can help any further.

WHY DOES VSC & CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYON

diagnostic reader and or workshop time required to
to fix both VSC and engine light faults /codes

VSC is brake /traction related ..... this is one explanation

It would appear that system braking, traction control, and possibly some anti rollover control is dis abled if this warning light is on. So it is both fuel in efficient and possibly dangerous to drive with this light on.

engine light

there are stored fault codes in the engine computer module pointing to faulty sensors on the car needing to be checked or replaced

Chances are a small auxiliary ground wire isn't tight enough. There is usually two grounds to the battery...one for the starter and your system ground, which is usually smaller....Another possibility is a fuseable link or inline fuse if something shorted when changing the battery...more likely a loose ground tho...

01 toyota avalon vsc, vsc off, and parking brake light on

The VSC uses the brake system to function. So if the regular brake system is not working correctly the VSC will be disabled.
The brake warning light is for the parking brake as well as the hydraulic brake system. So it could be low on brake fluid or something else.

Brake vsc off and abs lights are on

Krafty930 with brake, VSC off and ABS lights on. You share a common problem with many Toyota owners. My 2003 Sequioa has the same issue. There is no solution. Dealers will replace the air sensors and then the computer all for $2,500 - $3,500. This will not solve the issue. The internet has thousands of complaints re this problem, but Toyota has disowned the issue and declined resolution, even for vehicles under warranty. The lights drive me crazy and I still don't know if there is a functional problem, a wiring problem or a computer problem with the VSC system. To date, I have learned of no reports relating this problem to vehicular deaths, so I really am not holding my breath waiting for Toyota to provide a solution. Sorry that you share this problem, but perhaps my response will help to stop you from "spinning your wheels" too much trying to resolve this issue.

What is a vsc warning light on a toyota estima hybrid ?

It stands for Vehicle Stability Control When the VSC system takes control it activiates stability correction. The slip indication light flashes while the buzzer activates. The VSC is able to operate at all times except when the centre differential is locked. When the centre differential locks, the VSC-OFF light in the combination meter illuminates to inform the driver that the VSC function has been turned OFF. The centre differential lock is designed for freeing the vehicle if it is stuck in mud for example, however it would be difficult for the vehicle to free itself if the engine output were reduced due to the operation of VSC. Therefore when the centre differential is locked, the VSC function is turned OFF.If a malfunction occurs in the VSC system, the VSC warning light illuminates to alert the driver. If the vehicle with VSC begins to oversteer or understeer because of an emergency avoidance measure, or by excessive speed in a corner, VSC will automatically activate. By adjusting the engine’s power output and braking each wheel independently, VSC helps to return the vehicle to a ‘zone of stable operation’..

remove loke 4 lo lexes lx 570 200908-18-2009, 10:08 PM 08-18-2009, 10:08 PM Hello. New to DA forums. Haven't been able to find this information anywhere. Thanks in advance for your help. 2002 Accord SE 4 Cyl A/T 41,000 miles 2nd Owner No previous problems Haven't felt any difference in driving, but Check Engine Light came on recently. The car is running fine, but I haven't been driving it and I need to get the CEL cleared so I can get my car inspected (PA). Pulled the codes--P1738: Problem in 2nd Clutch Pressure Switch Circuit. No visible problems with any wires running into what I thought was the correct part, so I ordered the part. It arrived ok, but I have not been able to locate the location of the pressure switch anywhere under my hood. I was incorrect with where I thought it was. I have the service manual which indicates the location on 1 diagram. The diagram is an exploded view, and I'm having difficulty orienting it. If anyone can tell me how to locate this part, or even point me in the right direction (like a photo or better diagram), I'd really appreciate it. Back-story: I contacted 3 Honda dealers in the area, including where the car was originally purchased. None would help without having my car looked at by a 'Honda Certified Tech' for about $95 to pull the same codes. They wouldn't even run my VIN to tell me if my car qualified for an extended warranty if it was a tranny problem, despite the low mileage. None of the mechanics would acknowledge there have been numerous problems with the 98-02 Accord trannies. I found a 4th dealer who would diagnose and order me the proper parts to fix it myself for $86 + parts. Problem is it's about 2 hours away. The 4th dealer told me the part # for the 2nd Clutch Pressure Switch is 28600-p6h-003. He wanted $70, non-returnable shipped. For $40 shipped, I found a returnable Honda Genuine part online. Figured this was a good place to start. If it doesn't clear the code, I'll return the part and bring it to a dealer. Thanks! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- insceptor08-19-2009, 07:50 AM I took a picture of where I thought it might be located. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct location before I start disconnecting everything to get to it? It appears a single, BLUE wire is running to the part. The wire connector attached to the part is black, and connector on the part itself looks green. My connector on the replacement part is also green. Thanks! The wiring diagram I have shows the wire should be blue with a black tracer. As the code states the problem may be more likely to be with the wiring or connector than the switch itself. I would pull the connector, clean it if it looks dirty, hook it back up then clear the code by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. If the code comes back then I might change the sensor. The Honda service manual indicates you need to remove the rear motor mount bracket to access that switch. Good Luck -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- insceptor08-19-2009, 10:46 AM Thanks so much! I'll get started as soon as it stops raining. I'll test the wiring before swapping the switch, like you recommended. I'll let you know how it it goes... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- insceptor08-20-2009, 06:57 AM That is indeed the correct part location. I actually came in from the top of the engine and removed the upper radiator hose and air intake to access the part. Taking off the radiator hose proved to be the most difficult task. I checked the wiring to the pressure switch, but everything was in order there. No breaks in the wiring or debris in the connector. I installed the new switch last night. This has resolved the issue. The Check Engine Light has remained off since then. The Maintenance Required light came on, but it has remained off after I reset it by putting the key in the ignition in position II and holding down the Odo Reset button for 10-15 seconds. This likely just has something with me disconnecting the battery. I will post pictures and more details soon to show others how to resolve this issue. Thanks again NEHONDA, I would not have attempted to disconnect everything and perform the swap without your confirmation. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ravisonika09-15-2009, 02:08 PM Hi , I have similar problem as insceptor . My bad, I thought you were looking for the same 2nd clutch pressure switch location as the OP, but after rereading your post I realize you are looking for the 3rd clutch switch. It is item 15 on the previous diagram and located near the transmission dipstick - more toward the front of the transmission and toward the passenger side. According to the service manual it has a blue wire with a white tracer. Sorry no pictures. For what its worth, the service manual states the P1738 & P1739 (2nd & 3rd switch) codes do not trigger a flashing D4 light or the MIL light (check engine). The codes are only stored for readout later. If you had a MIL light it might have been due to something else that was temporary and the trany switch code was just a old stored code. Hope it helps. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bruce Hawkins09-16-2009, 05:10 PM I think this the interment problem I had it was accompanied with "P???
