SOURCE: bmwX3 2006 engine light

Hello There.

These come on as a precousionary measures, even if there is a slight misfire in the engine it generates a code which can be read and inform you why it is there, most of the time these are minor things and light can be reset. The only time you need to get seriously worried is when the letters 'eml' light up with the engine light, then you have a serious problem.

Hope this helps and please don't forget to rate me.

thanks

SOURCE: I've changed front brake pads,

Hi amfulbodmass,

If you have tried to reset the light leaving the key on in position #2 then I would recommend performing a battery reset. Sometimes if you go a while with the brake warning on, it can cause a temporary lock up of the system. Before disconnecting the Negative battery cable for 10 seconds just remember you will need to reset your clock etc. After the battery reset, you may have to once again leave the key on in position #2 for a few minutes before the reset occurs.

I have a bmw e30 325i it cranks but will not start so what can I do to fix it?

Fuel Pump - can you here the pump (usually under the right hand back seat) running with ignition on?
Fuel Delivery (injectors) - squirt some fuel (just a cap full) into the manifold.
Spark - pull a lead off a spark plug and use a spare spark plug resting on the exhaust manifold.
Crank sensor - Injectors won't inject fuel if the ECU thinks the engine isn't turning. Crank sensor is at the front right lower side and as it gets older, the wire gets brittle and breaks most of the time where it meets the hard end. The connector is under the throttle body and should read 500-600 ohms.

Sluggish ignition start

I think your mistaken. Your battery will lose cranking power as the temp drops. Warm battery may work just fine, untill it gets below freezing temps then the cranking amps are so low its sluggish. Buy a high cranking amp battery and you will be good as gold mate!

My bmw 1.6 e36 has lost its spark i have changed both crank and cam sensor could the lambda sensor still be the fault

Hi Thomas, You seem to have attended all that is required for the spark. Check the wiring and if it's fine I would suggest you have a diagnostic scan carried on on the vehicle. That will pinpoint the problem and allow a long term fix. Regards John

Where is the ignition coil located on a 1998 chrysler cirrus lxi. I have changed my plugs and fuel filter and my car still won't stay started. So I need to know where the ignition coil is located on my...

The coil is built into the distributor, along with the cam sensor. When one of these wont start and it has fuel pressure, the first thing you need to check is the timing belt. You do this by aligning the timing marks on the crank and camshaft. If the cam timing is good then the number one failure item is the distributor. Like I said the coil, and cam sensor are built into the distributor and they are not sold separately. The next most common failure item is the crank sensor. It is located in the top of the bell housing. Most of the time one of these engines quits the distributor is the reason. Ebay is a great source for these, the price is much better than any where else I have found.
