Have you traced the fuel line to the tank to determine no fuel? Could the regulator on the engine be at fault? If you need to get at the Fuel Pump you need to take the Tank out of the car. I've done that so I can provide more information if needed.

The fuel pump in inside the fuel tank attached to the fuel sump assembly which also has the Fuel Pump and Fuel Gauge Sender on it. The only way to get to it is remove the Fuel Tank and open the cover on the top. Curiously enough that job on the Aerio is not as foreboding as it sounds. If you can hear it running I would suggest opening the couplers from the tank to the lines running forward and check the pressure at that point. If you have pressure there then check the regulator on the engine its self. If you have fuel to that point then it would be after the regulator on the engine.

Refresh my memory, What have you done to the car beside replacing fuel filter? Do you have a fully charged battery? Are you getting spark to all cylinders? Are you getting fuel? I can help you if you tell me what is wrong. Don't assume it's the fuel pump cause there is so much in between but we can see if your Fuel Pump is working. Open your gas tank and have someone turn the car on but without starting it. You should hear a hum for about 2 to 3 seconds.
This means your pump is working. Now you need to find out what is your fuel pressure? A good number is between 65Lbs. and 40 lbs.
Let me know how you make out I'll be on line all day today.

Not getting fuel to the engine on my 2001 chevy blazer

you must be getting fuel, remove fuel line @ engine, have someone crank the engine, then you'll know, NO SMOKING ! if no fuel, check fuel pump relay ! check all fuses . pump should hum for only 2 seconds, when key is turned to ON position. to prime the system. always check all ground wires to fuel system. important ! good luck

Having problems getting the engine to start when we try to turn over the key!

If you pushed the fuel reset button when you didn't need to, it may now be in the off position. Sometimes they don.t pop back out. First I would turn the key on to accessories off and on for three second intervals. and listen for the fuel pump to hum. You may have to get someone to listen near the tank.Turn key on than off. If you do not hear the hum, check the fuse for the fuel system. It may say fuel pump on the back of the cover. Check and replace if needed. If it's ok,or you do replace it, and still no humming in the fuel pump, chances are that the pump is infact bad. Be sure your fuel reset is back in the reset position, they can be a headache at times. If this doesn't seem to work, I would next say a plugged filter, [ only if pump is humming ] Fords can be funny like that. You could also bring car into a shop and have a fuel pressure test, but if you're like me, you like to save $$$. Good luck, let me know how you make out. Please rate my solution.

My chevy malibu wont start. it turns over but wont start. tried new battery, not the problem. changed fuel filter, still the same thing, turns over, but wont start.

Hey Debbie. When a car wont start, there can be many things that can cause this. It can get real frustrating real quick. I will give you some things that it may be. If you are good at cars, you need to test for fuel and spark. Make sure fuel is going to the engine and make sure your ignition is sparking. If you are not good on cars, check these. Make sure your fuel pump is kicking on when you first turn the key. You should hear a humming sound for a second or two. If you do, the pump is working. If not, it may be bad. If you haven't changed the fuel filter in a long time, it may be clogged. A filter is cheap, usually 10-20 dollars. A fuel pump is 100-200 dollars. Check your air filter and make sure the engine is getting air. The filter may be clogged/real dirty. You could check the fuel pump fuse/relay, only if you didn't hear the pump. Your timing belt may have broke. You need to spray starter fluid into your carburetor. You will have to take off the air hose to do so. Once you spray it in, try to start the car. If it starts and dies, you have a fuel issue. If it stays the same and doesn't start, you will have to check the ignition system. This included the spark plugs/coils, distributor, dist.cap, rotor, cam sensor , crank sensor, ecm. I know it is a lot to take in but it could be any of these. Let me know if you know the engine good. There are things you can check, if you know how to check them. The only way to check for the problem is by checking each possibility. If you have a question Debbie, let me know. I am here to help. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Humming noise is probably the fuel pump. Have it checked as well as the fuel filter.

Seems as if no fuel is getting to the dfi system. how do i check to find if the fuel pump is not working or if the fuel filter is clogged?

Turning the key on will make the pump cycle at least once. turn key on and off listening to or getting help listening to the fuel tank area of the car. check filter by removal. If you go as far as to remove it, just replace it.
Also would be helpful to know year and engine if this doesnt solve your trouble.
