SOURCE: while driving, it occasionally feels like someone

I am going to guess that you're correct on your Transmission, is it only when your vehicle is getting ready to shift?

SOURCE: grinding noise when stoping or braking and light

Sounds like you wore down the brake pads to the point the backing plate is grinding against the rotor. Check all the brakes. The light doesn't seem related but before looking into that take a look at the brakes.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 AWD

OK. You could have a number of issues. Issue one could be cupped tires. cheapest. Issue two could be bearrings. And issue 3 could be a differential problem. Start with the smallest issue and x that out if thats not it keep going until you find it. But i hope that its either cupped tires and if not its probably gonna be a bearring issue.

SOURCE: AWD Disable light on 2001 Pontiac Aztec- how do I get if off?

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Antilock brake system.TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module

well i dont know about the howl but i would definitely get the rotors resurfaced they are not supposed to stop at one point if the tire is in the air and spin it by hand the tire should come to a smooth slow stop and bearings are very tricky to spot i would replace them just to be on the safe side

Oldsmobile Intrigue front end howl

Need more info...front end you say... A particular side? Is replaced tire the same as other 3 tires? hear it while driving, or braking, or both? Hear it more steering left or right or going around a corner?

Could be a front wheel/hub bearing is my only guess at this point. Howling or groaning could also mindicate a transmission problem.

Howling noise while driving

That could be anything from tires to differential or even a driveshaft carrier bearing on your Vette. The best thing to do is to see if it will make the noise while running it on a lift. If it does not, then the noise is most likely tire-related. If it does, then you can use a mechanic's stethescope to determine the source of the noise.

That's what it sounds like to me also. I would put the rear up on jack stands and spin the wheels to male shure wich side it is. Don't forget to block the front wheels for safety as you will not be able to set your e- brake for this test.

2003 Rendezvous - AWD lamp + noise & vibration from rear.

When my AWD light comes on is has always been due to uneven pressure in the tires. This is hard to believe but has worked up to now and I have 95K miles on it. It started happening around 60K. Changing the tires is another option. I would have the brakes checked if you have a noise from the rear end.

Howling noise while driving.

Need a little humor now and then, anyway it sounds like you have a pinion gear bearing that's noisy, they really howl when they get worn out, in order to change this bearing the rear end gears must be removed, new bearings should be installed on all parts, 4 total, the metal from the failed pinion bearing will ruin the rest of the bearings, might as well only do it once, also change the axle bearings and seals while you are in there.

Wheel bearing is the most likely cause. Prob a 1.5-2 hour labor rate job in the shop.
