SOURCE: i have a 2003 pontiac

My first guess would be a blockage in the oil passages. The pump is not capable of producing enough pressure to blow out the seal with clean passages.

SOURCE: 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix Turns over but will not start. Zero pressure at fuel pressure relief valve

That would be the pressure regualtor. You have a defective fuel pump is my guess.

New holland ts 120 oil pressure to high where is the pressure relieve valve situated? the oil pump is in the dif.

There is no relief valve on the oil pump.
The valve is on a housing near the oil filter
Normal pressure with HOT oil is 15 to 20 PSI at tick over and around 60 PSI when the engine is reved up
Note oil pressure can be as high as 90 psi with engine oil cold and engine reved up

Oil pressure so high at pump it blows out oil filter gasket and sprays all over.

This rarely occurs, and when it does, it usually occurs because of a "double gasket" condition. That is where the old filter gasket remains stuck to the block and the new filter is screwed onto it, resulting in a double thick gasket that is not capable of handling the pressure. Many times these leak from the outset, but if not, they fail soon after.

Oil filter ruptures

There is a bypass/ pressure relief valve in the oil pump, sounds like it is jammed shut or blocked, You don't say what the vehicle is, if the pump is internal then its a strip down I'm afraid.

1990 triton oil pressure relief valve location

Hi Lee, There are two oil pressure relief valves on most vehicles. One is fitted onto the oil pump assembly and another onto the oil filter housing assembly. The oil pump pressure relief valve is located at the front of the engine and is accessed via a blind nut on the side of the unit. The bolt is in the form of a cap, which when removed can be seen to be holding down under tension a spring, which in turn presses the valve. If the pressure becomes too high the valve body is pushed upwards and releases an amount of oil, thereby maintaining the required pressure. The valve built into the oil filter housing works in much the same way, but its job is to allow oil circulation in the event of a blocked oil filter. regards John

What causes high oil pressure reading 1990 toyota pickup?

Probably a faulty oil pressure relief valve.

If not done already, you should have an independent oil pressure gauge hooked up to the lube system by a mechanic to check that the high oil pressure reading you are getting is correct. Before doing this change the engine oil and the oil filter and ensure you use the correct oil and only fit a quality and correct spec oil filter.

I just had the engine overhauled, i only drove for 50 mi, and I just had 2 oil filter fail on the vehicle all the oil leakes out throught the filter what could it be?

This sounds like a defective pressure relief valve in the oil pump. If the filters look bulged or split, or if they're just blown off the base, that's what it's most likely to be.

Talk to the people who rebuilt your motor, they should make it right for you. Explain to them just what is happening with the filters, and under what conditions. If they disagree, have them hook up an oil pressure gauge and show you that the pressure is not above what Honda recommends for that motor- excessive oil pressure can cause heavy enough oil flow to erode bearings, so even if they can find a filter that will not fail you want to be sure the relief valve is working properly.

It's also perfectly possible that you have gotten two defective oil filters in a row. Not likely but possible- especially if you bought the same brand at the same store. Make sure to keep the filters to show the rebuilder, they may help him determine the problem.
