Sounds like a problem with your neutral safety switch. Usually it is located on the transmission.

SOURCE: Vehicle dies while driving down the road.

could it be the A/C pump kicking in. might be boging down the motor or electrical circuit, not letting the injectors get enough power. This could happen if the bearings are going bad in th A/C pump or there is a short in it. Just an idea. sounds like you have done the main components.

SOURCE: 1989 Cavalier Z24 Stalling problem

Have you heard of Noid lights? You unplug the fuel injector and plug these in and they will light up if the injector is getting power. This might give you a better hint. There are also lights that go inbetween the spark plug and wire. Between these two items you may be able to narrow down the problem to a specific system. I believe that your car has a coil pack. Some of these engines have problems with the crank trigger. I believe it is located on the back side of the motor. If you decide to change it, be careful. I have heard of them breaking into two pieces and becoming a big problem.

Hi ...It sounds like it's an electrical problem.Check the distributor it self some times the magnoids inside may not be delivering the correct spark to all cylinders.plus the check the cap for any hair line cracks. Also the spark plug leads each one at a time. Finally the spark plugs. They should be clear and dry of oil,not burned black....if all well then check the coil.Inorder to carry out all these checks go Utube for instructions of how to check all of the above.Hope this helped......

What would cause my 2002 ford explorer xls to idle rough

What engine do you have? is check engine light on? You said you changed coil pack, but what about spark plugs? could be fouled by normal wear, improper application/plug gap, oil fouling (oil residue on electrode) caused by bad valve guide seals or bad piston rings or gas fouling(electrode wet with gas) caused by bad plug, wire, injector, O-2 sensor. Could be caused by a vacuum leak (hose or intake manifold/gasket) Check all vacuum hoses for cracking/chaffing, repair as needed. with engine idling spray carburetor cleaner at base of intake manifold watch for rpm increase if so there is a vacuum leak. Could be stuck open egr valve, Could be compression problem or timing chain problem. This is the best I can do with info you provided. Hope it helps.

Change coil packs under intake manifold in back?

the intake plenum will need to be removed. Not to hard to do. make sure you replace the gaskets before reinstalling the plenum. Also not a bad time to replace the spark plugs as long as you have the plenum off. Autolite or motorcraft spark plugs would be a good choice.

Check the idle fuel pressure. Load the electrical with headlights and heater defrost etc and see if problem gets worse. Attempt again with all accessories off. Could be fuel pump is getting low voltage at idle or fuel pump is failing. Bad fuel pump would definitely be a problem high fuel demand. Check vacuum line between pressure regulator to intake manifold.

Check for a air leak in the intake manifold. Gasket/hose etc. The P0171/P0174 is an indication that not enough fuel or tow much air. You can sometimes hear the air leak during idle.

Best solution is to use a graphic capable scan tool and watch the fueling trim/idle.

get a friend with a hacksaw and a welder to chop it off and put a piece of straightpipe on it. it'll be fine. but first, unplug the mass air flow sensor and/ or the manifold absolute pressure sensor and see if they are fouled out first. check all sensors first.

If you dont have the proper spark due to a bad coil pack you will not get all the gas burned properly and your manifold will glow red.I would start with the coil pack.!
