What is the function of a hall sensor G40(Camshaft position sensor)

Hall sensor function
A hall effect sensor is a sensor that produces a square wave output that can be directly read and modulated by the ECM (as opposed to an AC wave sensor which produces a sine wave that must be converted). They are used as cam position sensors and ABS wheel speed sensors.

Camshaft positon sensor 2001 toyota mr2 how to bench test

Most cam and crank sensors are magnetic or hall effect switches. Usually, if you set your multimeter to ohms or continuity, it should go from open to zero when you pass metal between the posts on hall effect or a magnet on magnetic switches.

2001 saturn lost keys to it. Got it to crank cut right back off secrity lights on bought a brain box for it and got 2keys with it. Still want crank I need to know what to do t could the box be bad ..

No ,the box is probably not bad , but you need to have it programmed . The dealer is the only one that can do that ? The keys don't matter .
The passlock sensor mounted to the ignition switch assembly is located inside the upper right side of the steering column. The passlock sensor contains two hall effect sensors: a tamper hall effect sensor and a security hall effect sensor. The tamper hall effect sensor is mounted on top of the security hall effect sensor. Should someone attempt to defeat the system by use of magnetic experimentation, the tamper hall effect sensor will activate first.
The passlock system is a vehicle theft deterrent system which deters drive-away vehicle theft by disabling engine operation if the ignition lock cylinder is not rotated with the proper mechanically cut key.
The passlock system is made up of an ignition switch assembly, passlock sensor, body control module (BCM), instrument panel cluster (IPC), and a powertrain control module (PCM).
The ignition switch contains a magnet mounted on the lock cylinder and a passlock sensor assembly which consists of security hall effect sensor, tamper hall effect sensor, and output resistors. A drill proof metal shield is also staked over the sensor housing.

The BCM has the passlock controller integrated into it which controls the majority of the security systems logic. The BCM reads the data from the passlock sensor continuously. If the data is correct and has been received by the BCM within a specified time, the BCM will send a coded password to the PCM. The PCM will then allow the fuel injectors to operate.
The coded password for the security system is sent from the body control module to the PCM via the class 2 data link. If the password is correct and received within the specified time, the PCM will allow the fuel injectors to operate.
Sorry but you can't just replace parts , you need to know how the system works . You need to take this to a ASE certified repair facility that knows how it works .

Speed sensor

no series, either.
there are up to 3 speed sensors on cars, some are more.
are you asking for a connector (socket)
no current from what, using what. "?
sensors hall can be tested with any meter or LED lamp'
sensors not HALL , needs a scope to see these weak signals.
fill in the below and we can help...... .lots and losts of LC
one of the longest running cars lines on earth.!!!

my motto:
NO YEAR
NO MODEL
No engine size. (or transmission type A/T or M/T?, if that is in question)
NO HELP (or your joy)
No country , too , is a royal pain , all cars are different by country (laws)

Where is crank shaft sensor located

old post.
There are many Vitara engines, what size is yours.?
the noid lamp will not work VR crank sensors.
and many Halls will fail that test too, (a 10,000 ohm pull up stops that)
the noid suck big time current. (if your NOID is LED, then yes it works on most HALL sensors and never VR type.
the VR type has only 2 wire. the Hall has 3 or 4 wire (power)
the G16 motor uses hall sensors and creates a nice square wave. any DSO can see that signal.

why not say why you suspect this sensor.
and the car still starts with a Dead CKP on this G16 motor.!
The CKP only makes "ECU misfire work, detection"
the 1995 had no such sensor. and runs.
if the car will not start, then its not the CKP it\'s the CMP sensor
(dead spark) (no spark? the ECU cuts all FUEL)
the cam or DISSY sensor inside it is CMP.
this CMP dead, causes NO Spark , no start and No fuel.

the crank CKP sensor on some suz, are not hall but just a VR coil
and you need scope or other very special tool (mag) to test it.
on all 1999 here, our Scan tools tells you which is bad.
no scan tool? P0340, 355, cranking or running.

I post this to show that , it\'s best to post simptoms first
then ask how to find out why.
the first step is the CEL lamp. (what it does and the scan tool facts)
or post here.

How do I test the crank position sensor on my 2000 Chevy 3500 HD, 7.4L, auto trans & 2wd?

Unless you have an ocilliscope, you can't test it because it is a magnetic signal that works this sensor along with the camshaft position sensor.
