SOURCE: removal of the right side cvshaft on a base 1997 dodge avenger

REmoce the rubber boot. Clean away all the grease from the joint. Rub your fingernail on the 3 tracks which the drive end slides on in the diff. Near the outside you will find a round wire like spring clip push a small screwdriver under it and and take the clip out. The drive end will slide out.

How to remove inner CV joint on a 2005 kia amanti

To remove an inner CV joint, you must remove the entire half-shaft from the vehicle. Here is the procedure:

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

Front wheel Spindle nut Lower ball joint from the knuckle
  3. Press the stub shaft out of the hub, use a plaster hammer if necessary.
  4. If removing the left side halfshaft:
    1. Using a suitable pry bar, pry the inner joint out of the transaxle.
  5. If removing the right side halfshaft:
    1. Using a suitable pry bar, pry the inner joint out of the center bearing bracket.
    2. Remove the center bearing bracket mounting bolts.
    3. Using a suitable pry bar, pry the center bearing bracket from the cylinder block.
    4. Remove the inner shaft from the transaxle.

The individual joints CAN be replaced, but this requires disassembly of the half-shaft by cutting the clamps that hold the boots and frankly is a greasy mess. Remanufactured half-shafts are available for less than $100 USD and are already assembled for immediate installation.

How do you remove the cv joint on the left side from the transmission?

YOU NEED A PULLER ON THE OUTSIDE WHEEL HUB PUSHING THE HALF SHAFT FROM THE FRONT HUB,THEN TAP THE SHAFT UNION AT THE JOINT CASE WITH A PLASTIC HAMMER TO REMOVE THE HALFSHAFT AND INNER SHAFT FROM THE TRANSAXLE. IF YOU HAVE AN INNER SHAFT REMOVE THE HALFSHAFT BY SETTING UP A PULLER ON THE OUTSIDE WHEEL HUB AND PRESSING THE HALFSHAFT FROM THE FRONT HUB. AFTER PRESSING THE OUTER SHAFT INSERT A PRYBAR BETWEEN THE TRANSAXLE CASE AND THE HALFSHAFT AND PRY THE HALF SHAFT FROM THE TRANSAXLE DONT PULL ON THE SHAFT.

When I am driving and get to about 30 MPH the whole front end of my car begins to shake. The dash board and, steering wheel. It will becomes less noticable when I get to 55 MPH. And now when I slow down...

Hello, There are a lot of moving parts in the front end. You may have a bad CV joint which is on the shaft that turns the front wheels. Each side has a similar part. There are also hub bearings which are in the hub and the hub is turned by the CV joint shaft.

The CV joint can break without tearing the rubber cover on the shaft, but if someone looks under the car at the CV shaft and sees oil or grease or a torn rubber cover on the right side CV shaft; it will confirm the diagnosis.

Once this part breaks the car will not move anymore. A broken CV joint can cause other parts to fail like the hub bearings. You can call around and price the repair or if you know someone who can do the work, price the parts.

If the shaft needs to be removed, it is behind several parts which will need to be removed first.

How do you change the front left axel on a 1993 buick regal custom. It is making a clicking nois going in revers and forward a t low speeds

This is called a cv shaft. First jack the car up and support the vehicle with jack stands. This is for safety. Then remove the wheel and the brake caliper. you need to unbolt the tie rod end and separate it from its housing. You also need to unbolt the strut from the hub assembly. You might alos have to remove the bolt from the ball joint and remove it from the hub. In the center of the hub assembly is a large nut that will also have to be remove. This is actually holding the cv shaft to the bearing inside the hub. once you have removed the cv shaft from the hub, give it a straight hard **** away fromthe trans. There is a little c clip on the other end of the cv shaft which keeps it inside the trans. If the cv shaft separates into two pieces, this is ok. Take a small pry bar or flat head screw driver and place it between the part of the cv shaft left in the trans and the case. Be gentle but lightly pry against the cv shaft and it should come out of the trans. Reverse the order of disassembly and bang your done.

My front differential is leaking!

I cannot see it, but I am guessing that you need to replace your axle seal. To do this, you have to pull your CV shaft out. Remove the tire, remove the caliper from the top of the rotor. Using a hammer on the back, remove the rotor. Take off the spindle (axle) nut, separate the axle (CV shaft) from the hub. Replace seal. It should pop right out. Good luck!

Knock-knock-knock front end of drivers side only under power and hard right turns only not left. but it comes and goes away? help

Sounds like your outer CV joint on the drivers side is worn. If so not really a DIY job. When shaft is removed you will loose g/box oil. plus hub has to be partially removed. Then the joint removed from shaft. Big job. would recommend going to see your local CV shaft shop.

I removed the rear control arm from the frame not at the spindel, not enough room to use a ball joint press at the spindel/knuckle!! This gave me enough room to remove and install the cv shaft.
