SOURCE: now i replace the ignition cylinder but i steel kent starer

check power on large yellow wire from ignition swith while turning key to start possition, this is the wire that powers the solenoid to starter.also may try tapping on starter with hammer while someone is trying to start. If starts while performing tap method you will need a starter. If no power to yellow wire at ign switch while starting will need electrical part of ignition.

Normally, you will need to check the trans fluid level first. once you have verified proper fluid level, you will need to check all linkages that connect the shift changer to the actual transmission. make sure the linkages are sound and, adjusted correctly. once that is done and, no abnormal issue were noticed, move on to the DTC.

Ok, Your vehicle is past the OBDI stage so, you will need a scan tool or, diagnstic tool for pulling the codes in this case. this veihicle is on OBDII status. Some shops will scan your codes for free. Autozone is one place that will give you the code number for free.

The most common issue here will be fualty control solenoid(shift). This will require you to drop the transmission pan to access and test. the solenoid is attahced to the valve body inside the pan. this is the most common proplem spot. have this solenoid replaced if all the above check points are ok.

It sounds as though either the throw out bearing or pressure plate are bad. The grinding makes me want to lean towards the pressure plate.

Your tranny may be gummed up. There are ball bearings inside it that move to cover different holes. One or more is probably stuck. Try some trans sealer and conditioner or a flush, just follow the directions on the label. They are about $6 to $20 at parts stores.

You will have to remove the transfer case &
disassemble it, to make repairs

Drivetrain.Com -- seems like a good site
for transfer info

There should be a local wholesale trans
supply house near you for parts

This is just a facebook type site,we are at home
Do not have or sell anything

Gear shift stuck

Hi Ray, The advise above is good and should be checked out. If that does not solve the problem, before looking for a replacement transmission check and make sure the clutch is fully disengaging. If the clutch is mal adjusted that can also cause a problem with shifting gears. If the gears are stuck and wont shift at all the problem is most likely with the selector rods and/or forks. In that case you'll need major transmission work carried out. Regards John

it sounds like you installed clutch disc backwards its about the right time frame-- the raised side of disc should face the pressure plate or towards transmission good luck

My 87 jeep wrangler shifts fine when not running. will not manually shift into gear when running?

sounds like your clutch is not disengaging. when you press on the clutch pedal you should feel the resistance of the clutch pressure plate. There is a pilot bearing in the flywheel when it goes bad it continues to turn the transmission mainshaft not allowing your gears to line up for a shift, but you have noticed a bad noise if this were the cause. Or your clutch hydraulics have gone out. check your fluid level. if low you may have sucked some air into your system. you will have to bleed the lines as you would for car brakes. The other possibilities are bad clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder,

1987 camaro transmission won't go in gear.

Sounds like your clutch is adjusted too tight...when disc gets hot, it swells a bit and will fail to disengage.
Adjust so the pedal catches a bit higher and see if that helps.

The clutch fluid is leaking on my truck and it won't go into gear right.

You need to fix the Leak in your hydraulic system to your clutch on your transmission. The reason that your transmission is not going  in to gear right is that the fluid is to low to push the throw out bearing to disengage the clutch fully.
Once the fluid get's too low, you'll not be able to disengage the clutch to put it in to gear or change gear.
Check the fluid level to your hydraulic clutch reservoir and fill to the right level and fix the leak in the hydraulic lines.
Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, glad to help.

Clutch problems

If your clutch is not disengaging completely it makes it difficult to get into gear. If it was one gear it may be a synchronizer, but from your description I would say its the clutch.
If your clutch actuator is hydraulic, your master or slave cylinder may be causing the problem. When the seals start to go bad, the clutch will not disengaged completely.

There is usually a dimension in the maintenance manual about checking the gap between the clutch disc and the flywheel. Your local library should have some sort of maintenance manual or perhaps you could find some figures online.
