SOURCE: coil pack wireing

I just replaced my starter on my 6.0. There are three wires, one that comes directly from the starter itself about 3 inches that hooks onto the solenoid and then there is a smaller connecting wire to the solenoid and the big connector to the solenoid and that's it. The ground is right there on the block that is part of the starting harness too. I hope that helps. This is not a solution and I had no problem so I don't know what to classify this info as:)

There is a single High Tension Lead that goes from the spark plug cap to the coil pack.

Or do you mean firing order from coil pack to plugs? Which wire goes from what cylinder to which coil?

Bought coil pack for 92 pontiac bonneville connected wires underneath pack and spark plug wires now will not start at all

Did you replace all three coil packs or just one?
Did you get the spark plug wires in theproper order? (if not it may not start).
What wire did you connect underneath the coil pack (there are no wires under the coil pack). A wire bolts/plugs up to the side of the coil pack.

I am having trouble fiquiring out which wire goes to which plug. The wires are different lengths and the correct wire length has to go specifically with the correct plug. I have the firing order dia

The firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6
Cyl #1 is front left when looking at engine front to back
left coil pack connects to cyls. 5-2
center coil pack connects to cyls. 3-6
right coil pack connects to cyls. 4-1
It doesn't matter which connector on the coil you use just that the cylinder is connected to the proper coil pack (the coil fires both plugs at the same time, twice per each full 4 stroke cycle)

How do you change spark plugs in a 2004 hyundia sonata

It depends on which engine is in the vehicle. The 2004 Sonata came with two possible powertrains -- the 2.4 Lit L4, and the 2.7 Lit V6.

On the 4 cylinder engine, there are two coil packs and two ignition wires, Below each coil pack is a spark plug (#2 and #4 cylinders). The wire from # 2 coil pack goes to #3 spark plug, and the wire from #4 coil pack goes to #1 spark plug.

Now the 2.7 Lit V6 requires you remove the surge tank (intake manifold) in order to access the spark plugs & wires on Bank 1 (Right Hand side of the engine).

Do i have a coil pack

Vehicles either have a distributor for mechanically controlled igntion timing or are distributorless and have coil packs or individual ignition coils which are electronically controlled by the vehicles electronic control module or a powertrain control module. Simply look at your engine's cylinder head and see if the plug wire goes into a distributor cap or into a coil pack (which looks like a small block with other plug wires attached as well)

It was running fine and then all of a suddun its running rough, it wont shift over and the engine light is blinking.. its a custom 2001 buik century. we need to fix the car so we can get back and forfth to...

flashing engine light means engine misfire. let car idle and mist the plug wires down with water, rev the engine up and down and look for little sparks jumping from the wires. and arcing wires can cause problems. before changing any bad wires check the coil packs where the wires plug in the three small boxes on the top back of motor. they are three packs with two wires each. one pack at a time take the two wires off to reveal the coil towers. have an assistant start the motor and make sure the spark goes from tower to tower. repeat on remaining two packs. if the spark goes straight down the tower the coil needs replaced. if there is no spark, the coil needs replaced.

Reading number 3 cyl miss fire

Make sure the plug wires are correctly placed on the distributor cap (coil pack). In most cases, (when these are changed) two are accidentally switched.

Simply take two at a time and switch them. (refer to a repair maunal for firing order first). You can look this up online as well at http://www.google.com.

If these are correctly placed, then pull the wires (one at a time) from the plugs, and pull the plugs out and check for oil on the plug. If any one of these has oil, then you may have found your miss fire.

If all there is good (clean these and run truck); pull the distrubutor cap off (if equipped) and make sure the rotor (just under cap in center) is not cracked or warn (check end where small metal end is located). This sparks at each plug point on the distrubutor cap.

That is the next thing to check. On the inside of the cap. look to see that the prongs are not white, grooved, or broken. If any of these are true, replace both cap and rotor. Some rotors pull off, others have a small screw that hold them in palce which is located on the side.

If you're truck has coil pack(s) then have them all (if more than one) tested. These sit on a unit called a modular. Look at the modular after removing the packs and see that it is not bubbling, white, or melted. If any of these are true, it needs replaced as these cannot be tested.

Contact your local automotive parts store for correct parts and pricing. NOTE: some parts (seldom) may need to be purchased from dealer. This is rare, but sometimes an only option.

Also, if you have a distributor, check to make sure the coil wire (center of cap) is pushed on completely on the cap as well as the coil. (coil may need replaced as well) which also cannot be tested.

If need be, and you have not already, replace all of the following to ensure all is good:

plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor, coil, (the coil wire will come with the plug wires, but make sure when purchasing).

If coil packs are present instead of distributor, replace the following:

plugs, plug wires, any coil packs that are tested back, modular if it looks anything like that described above. Also remember to check for oil residue, or blackened powder on the spark plug ends.

If any, replace as necessary. When you replace spark plugs and wires do the following to ensure the firing order remains:

Pull one plug at a time. Take plug wire off the plug only, until new plug is inserted; then replace the appropriate length plug wire. (compare old to new; some may be close in length, but not exact as these are aftermarket plug wires).

Do this for each plug and wire. Save the coil wire for last to know you are finished with all: coil wire is the shortest of all (usually) and only goes on once way at each end: typically. One end will be straight - this goes to the coil. (not coil pack) the other end will be a 90 degree; this goes on the center port on the distributor.

If coil packs are present, there will not be a coil wire, as the coil packs replaced this unit.

My apologies for the lengthy reply, however this is to ensure you save time, money, and are aware of the different options and possibilities.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
