1991 chevy van won't crank put in a fully charged battery it started then turn it off and won't start up again why?

couple things come to mind: bad cable or starter has a dead spot. if it starts after hitting the starter with a hammer, you have a dead spot and need to replace the starter. If not, check both battery cables--the ground one that goes to the engine and the positive one that goes to the starter. Sometimes they go bad under the insulation. Could also be an intermittent ignition switch issue. A second test you can do to narrow down the possibilities is to put power directly to the starter solenoid (usually done by carefully crossing the big battery terminal on the solenoid with the small terminal where the ignition switch wire connects using a screwdriver), but make sure the tranny is in park or neutral. If the starter cranks, you know it is a problem with the ignition power not getting to the solenoid and not a bad battery cable.

Key stuck in ignition of 2009 chrysler town and country

Try to start it in neutral. If it starts then it sounds like a neutral safety switch. If the battery is dead it may not let the key out unless you jump the van.

Van will not start. Had battery tested. It

If there has been a decrease in the movement of you're van locks and lights ,I would check the battery terminals, scrub them witha wire brush or sand paper with grit, see what happens then..

96 dodge caravan replaced starter turn key nothing

Is the van in neutral or park? How about the battery cable, did you put it back on? Is it clean? How about the battery terminals,? Clean? Anti-theft device? Just because your starter is new , doesn't mean it is good. If you can't get it to turn over the motor, take it back. Hope this helps.

Engine start problems

the problem could be the starter, battery, battery cables, or alternator. the clicking could most likely be the starter going bad if not bad already or the battery weak or bad battery cables, if you have good power to everything else radio headlamps and heater the i would start by replacing starterlet me know what you find.

Silhouette will not start, but battery put out 12+ volts

You better have the alterntor checked, you said the battery was putting out 12v. was that with the car running or off? If it was running, it should have pushing between 14 and 15 volts, if it wasn't with it running, replace alternator.
