on a v6 ? Low on oil? rear cam plugs leaking? The lifters are on the end of the rocker arms and may get clogged. I have had some luck running 0w30 mobil synthetic for about a week or so with a new oil filter [Not a fram filter] and after that put 10w30 synthetic oil back in and a new filter. Check for oil leaking at other locations. If the noise is at the front of engine near water pump it may be the hydraulic timing belt tensioner.

if you mean cylinder head cover, i suggest you to look thoroughly the head cylinder cover. it may have crack or cracks that make oil leaks. magnified crack gets big when hot.

I just replaced my valve cover gaskets on my 2000 Isuzu Rodeo V6. They were hard to change, especially the driver side. I had to use sealer to keep the gasket in place because it kept falling out when trying to maneuver the covers back in place. Needless to say, I am going to pull the driver side gasket back off and re-install the gasket. Come to find out, the driver side (the pain in the you know what side) is leaking oil around the bolt I had to blindly refit. Fantastic. Not a fun job, but hey... Idle hands are the devils play ground.
