SOURCE: toyota echo serpentine belt

The only way to loosen and tighten the serpentine belt is by loosening the alternator and sliding it back or forward. There are TWO bolts that must be loosened, one above, and one below the alternator pulley. A bit of penetrating oil can make things easier.

SOURCE: procedure to change serpentine belt 2006 toyota tacoma?

On my 2005 Tacoma with the 4.0L V6, I found it easier to change the belt from under the truck. Just remove the skid pan. Plenty of room to install the belt. The tensioner pulley is the one at about 2-o'clock from the crankshaft with the belt nearly all the way around it.

How do I stop my v-belt from making squeeling noises on my Toyota Echo 2004.

Squealing is usually an indication of belt wear. Check the underside of the belt for worn or "shiny" spots. If it's worn it's slipping and is most likely not only the cause of the squeal but could impact the charging and cooling systems.
If the belt is in good shape and/or has been replaced recently, it may just need to be tightened. All new belts develop some play after initial installation after they have "broken in". If the belt is in good shape and is tight, the problem most likely lies elsewhere (bad bearing in waterpump or power steering pump, or alternator) I hope you found this post helpful. Best of luck!
