Question about 2006 Pontiac G6

My car is loud!!!

When I drive the car it is so loud especially on the highway. I can't talk on the phone and I have to yell to when talking to someone. Some people have told me it could be the catlytic converter (which I hear cost an arm and a leg) or some say it's the muffiler. Either way how much it is going to run me to have a nice quiet ride?

Well be4 you go to the mechanics check and see wher the hole is it could just be a littl piece of pipe that needs replaced catalyc converters are not known for going bad often

Tried looking under the car at the exhaust to see where the hole is? After you know what's wrong, you can get a parts price from any parts house.
Chances are it's not the cat...they last a long time.

Most likely neither the muffler nor the catalytic converter.  Both parts built to last more than 3 years.  It's more likely a broken pipe in the exhaust or a leak in the exhaust somewhere else but the muffler and catalytic converter themselves should be fine.  Have a free diagnosis done by a reputable muffler shop or mechanic.  All the best.

If you take it to a muffler shop, like Meineke, they should be able to give you a free inspection and quote. It will PROBABLY be as simple as welding up a small hole in either the catalytic converter or the muffler.

Good luck!

Noisy tires

Hi I'm Peter, most of the time when you have high noise from your tires it is related to the tread design. The more aggressive the tread the noisier it will be so if you have all terrain or mud/snow tires they will be a lot louder than a highway tread. Talk to your favorite tire dealer and tell them you want a really quite tread. Unless you are doing some serious off roading a quite highway tread is fine. I can take my 2 wheel drive pickup a lot of places some people are scared to take their 4 wheel drives. Smooth and quite is the way to go. Nice car !

95 suburb loud noise accompanied by vibration.... pedal to floor hard to stop.

Look for Car Talk web site. They will have a listing of mechanics from people who report mechanics they like. There are honest mechanics out there if you can find them. Go to:

Oil gauge goes to 80psi while I'm driving 70mph on highway, drops when I slow down. Why?

They are designed to change as the motor changes speed. If you have 80 lbs. of oil pressure than you have very good oil pressure in your engine. If it gets higher than 80, I would talk to service dept. at your local dealer.

Yes it could be the front wheel bearings, you should have it checked out by a qualified Tech.

When driving at highway speeds & there is a cross wind with rainy conditions; the wipers vibrate which creats a noise(loud noise, can not hear the radio or other ocupants talking).

Try, to find the type of wiper arms that have the wind deflector
built on it. The theory is the deflector is set at an angle that
the wind puts pressure on the wiper to push the blade to the
windshield??

OR the wiper arm hold down spring is just worn out

Front end noise - Basically really loud "howl" when driving

Try jacking your vehicle up and turning the tires. listen for any odd noise like a grinding sound, wheels hubs have been known to make a grinding noise when they go bad.
