Once the refrigerant level is correct, that particular light should turn off, and the a/c system should begin to work properly. If not, you can always use a scanner from Autozone, Dicount, or O'Reilly's Auto parts to try to fix it.
Hope that helps!
Avoid system sealers and leak stop.
These products are band-aids, not repairs. Leak sealers react with air. If there is air in the system, the leak stop will congeal into a thick green jelly.

Most likely a lack of refrigerant.  AC Compressors won't turn on without a minimum of pressure (generated by refrigerant).  Your system needs to be charged.  Best of luck.

On 1995 gmc safari we had a new compressor installed about 3 years ago and didnt have it charged. We added 134a (2) cans and the clutch isnt kicking on. we checked all the fuses and it seems to be holding...

Make sure the low pressure switch on the dryer is plugged up,and the connector on the clutch of the ac compressor, then the problem, might be the low pressure switch, jump the two wires going to it to find out.Rate if you would, thank you.

Says coolant hot idle engine ac compressor off but coolant temp is actually only 195-205

the temp sending unit for the gauge, not the computer, is bad, or the gauge itself is bad. there may also be a fuse for that circuit

My pontiac vibe Ac has stopped working..it started taking a long time to kick in ...now it only kicks on for a short time if im lucky.

the clutch on the ac compressor is going out.

replace the ac compressor (when you push the a/c button it should imidiately kick the compressor on).

also check the connection on the compressor, along with the fuses.

AC compressor blows fuses when it goes to kick on.

As a mechanic I NEVER put that JUNK in ANY system, they clog up A/C compressor's and every thing elese. (You might have to replace most of the components in your vehicle now. ie condenser, evaporator, compressor, receiver/dryer (accumulator), orifice tube (thermo expansion valve) and you may be able to flush out the lines.

Well if the fuse is blown, replace the fuse. Check the belts to see if one broke and replace it.
