Auto or manual?
Sounds like the either the torque converter bolts have come loose or the torque tube bearings have colapsed.
Starter motor loose or severley worn out.

Changed front brake pads and still has a grinding sound and vibration

This is why in North America they always change pads and rotors at the same time. Have you hit a kerb in bad weather? The grinding sound may be bad wheel bearings or CV Joints. Jack the front of the vehicle up and spin the wheels. Put a piece of polythene pipe in your ear and use it to pinpoint where the grinding noise is coming from. It looks odd, but it works.

Sounds bad, pull the tranny dipstick, engine off and look at the fluid, if it's black or smells burnt the tranny has to come out for repair or replacement. I suspect the front pump.

After smog pump reinstallment, car wont crank

If car cranked but white smoke came out of the tailpipe. The car may have either a bad head gasket or a cracked cylinder head. You mentioned changeing the radiator.Did the car overheat severely? This would stress the headgasket. The car may not start now because the plugs are wet(water)or the rings have lost their ability to seal compression due to overheating.

2000 olds alero cranks then makes a metal grinding sound and won't start

You need to have your flywheel: replaced.Your starter motor engages against the fly wheel at the back of the motor. Every time your motor stops it tends to be in the same few positions (just the way things work) so there is more stress on some parts of your fly wheel than others. Because of this the teeth wear out on the fly wheel which means the starter can correctly engage on the fly wheel which is the grinding noise.

My 2002 Ford Windstar had tires replaced in August. When we got it back there was a wearing/grinding sound coming from the passenger front tire. We dismissed this as a new tire sound since we have not had...

if they are a real tire place they should know if you need brakes . the windstar are known for bad wheel bearing, and here again if they are a true shop they can tell if the whell bearing is bad . by shaking the tire up and down, it will give the same play as a bad ball joint

Auto transmision grinds in reverse, put in dr grinding stops but doesn't move

sounds like it is time to get the transmission rebuilt. usually when they go out you will only have reverse. It sounds like the oil pump has exploded inside the trans. sorry for the bad news

No reverse

it sounds like they didnt put the intake gasket on to specks because if your blowing smoke that means intake gasket not sealed and as far as no reverse sounds mo like you should have the place you took it to pay for it to be fixed

My 1992 ford explorer isnt getting gas. But it turns over just wont start

Possible bad fuel pump. Have someone turn the key to the on possition with out cranking the engine. While they do this crouch down by the rear of the truck.Listen for the fuel pump. It should make a wineing sound. If you do not hear the pump you should check for blown fuses and see if the fuel cutoff has been tripped. If all the fuses are good and the fuel cutoff is not tripped you probably have a bad fuel pump.
