More than likely, since the wiring for the passenger side air bag is located right where you were working, you may have disconnected a wire. Start by wriggling the plug in to the air bag.

Lamp Fault Code 36 has four possibilites, of which are the following:
-Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground
-Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Battery or Ignition
-Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance High
-Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance Low
With that said, it's most likely your driver air bag needs to be replaced

2001 pontiac grand am air bag module reset

Yes!!! You can replace it yourself.(Dont let others fool you into paying extra or telling you otherwise.)
-This is for pontiac grand ams 1999-2005 only.
-There are no frontal airbag impact sensors nor are there belt tensioners.
-The SRS system consists of only the (driver airbag) ,(passanger airbag),and the (airbag control module) in 1999-2005 grand ams.

If you crash/wrecked and airbags deployed you will need.
-Driver and Passanger airbags
-Airbag control module

You can buy cheap airbags from a local junkyard any year from 1999-2005 will fit.
You can also find an airbag control module for cheap at your local junk yard BUT YOU MUST FIND ONE WITH THE SAME (PART NO.) AND (SERV NO.) AS THE ONE YOUR REPLACING.The (part no.) and (serv no.) should be at top left of airbag control module. However it does (Not) have to match numbers under barcode or the numbers at the far bottom right of airbag control module.

After you get both airbags and airbag module
-Disconnect car Battery
-Replace airbags
-Replace airbag module (under passanger seat)
-Double check all connections and connect battery.

Congradulations!Your airbags should be back online.

Notes: Two torx 35 head screws hold the driver airbag, access is through two holes behind steering column.
To remove passanger airbag you have to remove glovebox it uses (7mm)screws.After you remove you will see a pair of (10mm)screws holding airbag.
To remove airbag control module First remove passanger seat 2(15mm).Then after removing you will notice a raises area kinda like a vertical bump.Take a razor blade to your carpet and cut it to explose the module underneath.
The airbag module is held by three screws depending on the year of your car it varies. Most likely 3 (10mm).

Porcshe air bag light on

The first step here and on any car with an air bag light is is to have the computer scanned to get codes out.
The computer will store a code when it detects a problem with the system, the code will help to locate what part of the air bag system has failed. for example there could be a code that reads b1234 pass/side buckle circuit fault, this code would tell us the problem is in the passenger side seat belt buckle, then with some testing the problem would be found. start by having the codes read, record and write back with codes , also including year, make ,model. good day

My 2007 Saturn XR side passenger airbag light reads "off" when a passenger is seated and the safety belt is engaged. This condition remains throught the road trip.

The passanger seat contains a sensor that detects the weight of a person when they are seated. Once the seat belt is fastened, the passanger air bag system is then activated. The sensor will not activate if a bag of groceries or a child that does not weigh enough. If it is an adult that is riding in the seat you should have it check at your local dealer.
Good luck.

When someone sits in the passenger seat the air bag light comes on

Hi Edward your problem is probably the occupancy detector which is located in the passanger side front seat base. Its function is to detect wheather or not there is a passanger in the car.It will not allow the passanger air bag to deploy in the event of an accident if there is no passanger present.Unfortunately it cannot be repaired and will have to be replaced to do this remove the seat abd remove the seat cover and padding,[the detector is located in the seat base.
I would recommend that the air bag system is scanned to find out the fault before you buy a new detector.

How can i disable passanger air bag on 1999 z3

It's never a great idea to dis connect any safety feature on a vehicle. But should you wish to do so here are two possible options. BMW may have a key operated switch (usually ignition) to disarm the passanger side airbag (usually in the case of rear facing child seat being fitted) OR if you manually disconnect the airbag (NOT reccommended) you will have to insert a resistance into the passanger bag circuit of equivelant to the air bag that was removed. In order to maintain the self diagnosis check system.

Air bag code

I strongly suspect you have a bad connection or corroded connection at one of your connectors.

Here's the LFC (lamp Fault Codes) for 36:

B1993 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground GO to Pinpoint Test V . B1992 36 24 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Battery or Ignition GO to Pinpoint Test W . B1994 36 26 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance High GO to Pinpoint Test X . B1995 36 28 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance Low GO to Pinpoint Test Y .
