How can i tell battery need replace

A car battery? Usually it will become sluggish and have difficulty starting because of the age of the battery. You may need to boost start your car at times.

However, the battery may just need charging (short journeys cause a battery to 'run down').

If you think you have battery problems - go to a workshop and ask them to test it for you. This is usually a free service.

If the battery is exhausted, four years is a good age, then yes, the engine will have difficulty turning against compression.

I have an Audi a4 2.5 tdi cabriolet It starts eventually but takes ages What would cause this

open the door, get in,put the key in the ignition(do not turn on)put your belt on then turn the key to start. As the engine heater plugs are operated by the opening of the drivers door this "routine" is needed to start the car first time.If this doesnt work then the first thing to replace is the heater plugs, after checking the fuse is good.

Alternator replaced. car fine until recently

You car is fuel injected. You should not need to pump the gas pedal to get it to start. If your check engine light is on you need to take it to a shop and have the codes read so you can see what the problem is and repair the problem. A change of fuel filter might help. Water in your diesal fuel may also be a source of your problem. A diesal motor works off of combustion and heat, there really isnt an ignition system in the car except for the glow plugs which heat things up prior to ignition. If it is taking 34 times to start the vehicle you may also have a glow plug issue. If these are not working properly you will never get this vehicle to start.

I really think you have a glow plug problem.

Why wont my 2002 accent 1.5 diesel start? if it does start it takes a long time to start. it never starts within 2 seconds. when i turn the ignition the engine sounds like its trying to fire up but never...

hi from uk from the symptoms you describe this sounds like the engines heat/glow plugs are not working to optimum it only req's one to be at fault to result in poor cold starts then starts ok for rest of day ? could you please check the colour of the exhaust smoke next time when engine eventually starts from cold ? if it is heavy blue/black for a couple of sec's this too is classic sign of glow plug/s under par so replace each cyl's glow plug not too expensive and you can diy like renewing spark plugs if you come back with info asked above? will be glad to assist further also considering age of car and possibly these g/plugs origional ? they are/may be due for new replacements hope this helps you can purchase from most good motor supermarkets or factors instead of dealers often cheaper ? best wishes from n/west uk

Difficulty starting car- egine cranks but car does

2008 nissan versa should still be covered under warranty. take it to the dealer. possibly the anti-drainback valve in the fuel pump is broken and the fuel lines are becoming depresurized when it sits. this will cause the car not to start until the pressure build up.

Car takes ages to start if it rains overnight

Hi ....... Sounds alot like you have a grounding problem on your HT leads (central one from coil esp'ly). At night when it's dark open the bonnet/hood and start the engine. Look for any sparking or arching from plug leads, coil or ignition box. Stop engine. Find where your leads come from, four will come from a central point and make sure all conections are tight. Even remove and look for corrosion, only take off one at a time to avoid confusion and when you're happy that they're OK buy some WD40 and spray near coil and over leads and allow to dry off. This will help to prevent moisture to penetrate and will cure the problem short term.
