Unplug the brake light switch and jumper the 2 wires together if the brake lights come on the brake light switch is bad, if the brake lights don't come on the turn signal switch is most likely bad sometimes if you wiggle the hazard switch you can make them work for a short time but it won't last long so change the turn signal switch. I hope this helps. Take care.
can be something other than switch -----------http://mmc-manuals.ru/manuals/pajero_sport_iii/online/Service_Manual/2017/35/html/M135202550030702ENG.HTM
Either the switch , relay or resistors. Get the shop manual for the fox (Americam manual just as good) remove the switch and jump the terminals at its connector as the manual tells you to do. If your speeds work then you replace the switch. If your speeds don't work you have eliminated the switch as being the culprit.
Next measure the resistance of the three resistors.
You will find these puppies under the plasticcover by the windshield wipers. Do the resistance checks the manual directs you to to. If everything checks out here move on to the relay. thats in the fuse box uder the dash on driver side . Pull it out open it and look for the burnt terminals. or check it for continuity and resistance ( this is not a likely item for you issue but ya never know) These are fun cars had a 1990 drove it until the floor boards rotted out. was gonna restore it but wife got jealous. lol
Hi bkleyn,
You can adjust the brake light time at the brake light switch, which
you will find just over the brake pedal. By adjusting this switch away
from the striker plate on the pedal, you will bring on the brake lights
earlier.
Hope this helps you
John
Try testing the switch and then the relay. Usually its the switch. Use a flat screw driver to pull it s out of there connector. Use a jumper wire and shop manual to jump the terminals and see if the lights come on. If they do its the switch.
The relay you check for continuity and resistance.
if you have not disassembled the brake yet than remove the wheel take the dusk cap off of the drum and remove the nut and pull the drum and bearing off of the hub. then take your camera and take a picture of the brake assembly so you can remove and replace the parts in the right position.
These old models of Fox's are just that old. I have been told that the engine light goes on due to the lack of oil pressure in the car. The valves apparently get worn out and create a lower pressure that the oil will pass through them...therefore sometimes this registers as an engine light going off every now and again. However, my mechanic has told me that these old german cars are like tanks and can run on and on and on....on lesser than normal oil pressure in the engine. Keep it well maintained and watch for any abnormal or steady warning lights. My mechanic says don't take the car any farther away than I would chance a tow ride back. If that is a hint or what! Lol.
Hello, the fox coolant warning light flashes when key is first turned on to let you know that the light and its controller are working. On my fox, the controller is shorted and the coolant light flashes every now and then, like it has a personality. Anyway, this information comes from my expirience with foxes and it is backed up by the bentley repair manual. If you need any more advice feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. Have fun!
