SOURCE: transmission mount

Its bout the same for all rear wheel. Place a jack to support the transmission, remove the bolts from the mount and frame. If the tranny on a cross member then you should be able to remove the cross member by 4 bolts, then remove the mount from tranny and cross member.

SOURCE: 1989 Dodge Shadow Radiator Fan Won't Come On

Sounds like the relay switch. Look in owners manual to see where it is located. I know some are under the dash and some in the engine compartment.

What transmissions are compatible with a 1988 Dodge shadow for a transmission swap?

Depends on the swap you are looking to do. Nearly all of the transmissions that were standard in shadow will fit perfectly in the mounts (you may have to re-center the engine, tweak here and there).

The Shadow Transmissions were:
Manual:
A520, A555, A523, A568?(on a lot of 2.2 2.5 turbo cars)

Auto:
A413

Some folks over @ turbododge have had success with some of the more modern mopar transmissions (out of Neons, and the Stratus) it depends on how much fabrication work you are willing to do for mounting.

I'd recommend the A568. It's a tough son of a gun that you can find relatively easily and the mounts should line up alright. Please do a mockup depending on what kind of engine you're putting in. You can find a lot of folks on turbododge and cardomain who have managed to put a 2.4DOHC in their shadows (of varying years) and they tend to use the A568.

PLEASE use new mounts, even a stock 2.2 tbi can quite a bit of kick to it if it's not properly restrained.

Hope that helps!

Will a 2.2 motor fit into my 90 dodge shadow?

Chilton shows 2.2, 2.5, and 2.6 motors for that year Shadow so Im guessing a 2.2 will work but might lack the power you were used to. Best of luck.

Transmission input speed sensor location

It is located on the front of the transmission. you will see 2 of them one on the left under small transmission lines it is the input then to the right behind the radiator overflow there is the other one. Easiest way to change them is with a 1" deep well socket
