SOURCE: no headlights

You need to start by checking the fuse for your headlights (low beams). The DRL could be be bad, but I have not seen them go out very often.

First check, is there more than one headlight bulb, if so, the low beam bulb has failed, needs replacing.

If not you'll probably find that the head light bulb has a double filament, low and high beam. The low beam filament has failed. You have to replace the bulb.

Low beam fuse

No fuse, but if you have daytime running lights and are experiencing headlight trouble, that circuit could be the source of the problem. Also, in the 1999 model year headlights could be either composite or sealed beam.

How do i change my low beam head light?

What you do is remove the entire headlight assembly, usually with 3 or 4 NON ADJUSTMENT screws. Then the whole assembly comes out and you can access the bulb.

Low Beam Fuse may be bad.
Low Beam relay position is bad.
Stalk that controls the high/low beams/cruise/lights is bad.
Low beam filament may be bad in both headlamps.

What would cause both low beam headlights to go out at the same time? i have replaced the headlights and they still dont work.

The headlight high/low beam switch assembly.96 Safari has the turn signal stem as the high/low beam switch.Removal of the steering wheel is necessary to get to the switch assembly for replacement.
