Question about 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

2 Answers

Signal switch fuse blows as soon as I replace it. I've replaced it several times but it keeps blowing. Will I have to replace that whole fuse box or is there another solution?? My car won't pass inspection this year if I don't fix it. All other electrical parts are working fine. Thank you for any help. Ginny

Remove the bulbs from the signal light and check one by one. You are bound to come up with a solution while doing this.........sodeep

Your problem may be the turn signal switch assembly that is IN the steering column mounted behind the steering wheel. I doubt that it is your fuse box.

you may have a short of some kind, when a fuse blows repeatedly it is no good just replacing, you are being told that something is wrong with the equipment.
You will almost certainly have to visit a technician for a diagnosis. It is unlikely to be something that an inexperienced end user can sort out I am afraid.

GOOD LUCK

Why do Brake lights fuses keeps blowing

Because you have yet to get yourself a wiring
diagram & do the required testing to find a problem

You find a problem first--you have a symptom only

Why would you replace a fuse more than once?

Like watching them go up in smoke & cost you money

Blown dashboard light fuse

Since they are on different circuits I would say something in the wiring harness. It may be tough to find if it takes a few days or weeks for the problem to show up.
It could be a short in the harness in the column, or elsewhere.

COULD BE BLOW FUSE.FAULTY TURN SIGNAL SWITCH OR FAULTY TURN SIGNAL FLASHERS WHICH IS LOCATED FUSE / RELAY BOX JUST LEFT OF THE STEERING COLUMN.

No parking lights, fuse keeps blowing.

There is a ground not connected or a wire open that is causing it to blow

I have no brake lights, no hazzard lights, but the signal lights work. Wiring has no breaks, but the fuse blows as soon as the brake or hazzard lights are used.

there is a short somewhere-try disconnecting all components on that circuit, put new fuse and try using one,if the fuse still blows, problem is in wiring or switch unit,if not, plug one component in and a time until the fuse blow, replace component
accordingly.make sure there is no slightly shaved wire touching the chassis, this will show when all if d/c'ed and fuse still blows, good luck
