SOURCE: heater control door stuck on the cold side.makes clicking sound

I ended up taking the vehicle to the dealer. The 'blend door' actuator had gone bad (stripped gear?). $66.00 for the part over $330 for labor. The console and part of the dash had to come out.

WHAT IS A BLEND DOOR?

Hi Don'a, here is a temporary solution; until the linkage is replaced. Make sure your heater is in dual mode and not turned up all the way. Then only use the face setting and close the driver vents. This will allow heat to circulate and not blow cold air onto the driver. If you use the floor setting or the defrost setting then the driverside takes over and it blows cold air. Good luck. In the mean time look at some of the other posts about this issue for part #. And if you have a mechanic that can work on it, he will probably be cheaper than the dealership.

Hi the heater on my Ford KA is only blowing out cold air even when turned to hot on the control knob. I recently had problems with it blowing out only hot air all the time and had a new solanoid fitted but...

Sounds like whoever did the repair work did not install the solenoid correctly or did not reassemble everything properly. If you had heat prior to the repair, the heater control panel must have been working. The mechanic must make a better diagnosis than this.

Air conditioner suddenly stops blowing cold and starts blowing heated air. Control panel indicates that it is still on air conditioner. Switching the control from vent to cold does not have any effect. ...

If you are absolutely confident the AC compressor is not kicking out on low pressure then it is the blend door actuator.

The blend door determines how much air blows through the heater core or evaporator.

The actuator can be purchased at dealer and maybe at a local part store.

HEATING PROBLEMS

Need more information. The most important thing would be to watch the heater water valve move when someone turns the control from hot to cold, back and forth?
Heater valve controls tend to be operated by vacuum, and switched by a heater computer. Lots of possibilities. But first tell us what you see move when operated? Valve is usually in engine compartment, in the heater hose. Follow the hot one.

When i turn on the heat it does not blow hot. it is cold then it warms up a little but barely? what do i need to do so it will blow out hot air and not cool or "room temperature"?

First thing is to check the gauge to make sure that the engine is coming up to operating temperature. If it is not you might need a thermostat, but first check to make sure that the coolant level is full this will make the cabin heating system perform poorly, if those both check out then you either don't have water circulating (water pump) or the heater core is bad and will need to be replaced. If the heater core and water pump are both good then the problem lies within the heating controls or ducting. The dash control may be faulty and not closing the blend door to shut out the cold air or the blend door may be blocked by something foreign in the system or the blend door itself may be faulty.

1998 caddy sts over heating and blowing cold air when heat is on

sounds like it might be low on coolant. Low coolant levels will stop the flow and circulation to the heater core, and also might be the cause of overheating
