Use only OEM Toyota trans fluid. If there is one lesson I learned with my MR2, its that Toyotas own trans fluid is the best. Yes, its a few dollars more, use it anyway.

As for your top, there is a product called Amazing Roll off. Its for boat canvases and its simply the best thing i've ever used. try it, you wont be disappointed.

Best steering fluid for 2003 mitsubishi eclipse spyder???

You can use Castrol DOT4. Luckily most car parts stores have it, as well as walmart. Pretty much and DOT4 fluid will work good.

Water in the storage area behind the seats in my 2003 MR2 Spyder. Has convertible. I believe the drains might be plugged but don't know where the drains to check!

There is a couple of plastic pieces you need to remove inside the storage bins. Two side pieces to be exact, just a couple of pins. Here is a link to more detailed instructions.

Cruise control in my 2003 mr2 spyder suddenly went out

check the fuse for the cruise control from the driver side located on the left side of the dashborad. Make sure the fuse is not blown out.
If it bad, change it out but make sure it is the same rated fuse.

Good luck

MR2 after 2 mins of starting the smt light comes on.

it sounds like the clutch actuator is worn out.
The clutch actuator has 2 parts:
1. the clutch master cylinder
2. the clutch slave cylinder.

Try to replace the slave cylinder first, and if it is still not solving the problem, then try to replace the clutch master cylinder

Good Luck

2003 toyota mr2 spyder 5 speed transmission grinding noise

Here is what is going on. When you push in the clutch pedal you remove the connection between the engine and the transmission. At this time all the parts in the transmission stop rotating.Since the only parts in the transmission that can rotate without moving the car are the input parts we can safely assume that the noise can only be from there. This can be a transmission input bearing. Worn Synchro mechanism (allows the transmission to shift without grinding the gears)Low fluid in the tranny. Or a bad clutch component. Top off or change the fluid. If it still makes the noise you need to take it to a tranny shop.
