1992 cadillac deville leaking oil at dipstick

I would look for other leaks. If you are sure it's leaking at the dipstick tube, there is normally an o-ring where the tube presses into the engine. In general, this is an odd place for a leak, as ther eshould be no oil pressure in the pan (where the tube terminates) and unless the engine is overfilled with oil, the tube end shouldn't be immersed in oil to leak. IF there is pressure in the oil pan, that generally indicates bad rings. I have seen engines where the oil dipstick actually pops out of the tube under pressure when the engine is running due to pressure in the oil pan from blow-by at the rings.

88' ford econoline transmission dipstick tube is leaking. How do i tighten or replace this tube?

The dipstick tube should have an o-ring near the bottom where it goes into the transmission case. Once you remove the bolt holding the bracket for the tube you should be able to pull the tube up and out. You should then have access to the o-ring.

I pulled out the dipstick and the whole thing come out the tube and the stick still in the tube

The oil dipstick tube is simply pressed into the block, some have an "O" ring around them. If the "O" ring is bad or missing replace it or you can gently flange the tube until it takes a little pressure to dive it back in with a rubber mallet. It should then stay in place. All the transmission fluid leaked out from the fluid dipstick base. please help!

Hi! The dipstick tube has a bracket welded about 12 inches form the top, is fastened to the engine block by one bolt, it may be loose and caused the O ring at the base of the dipstick tube to rip or wear out. Remove the fastening bolt and pull the dipstick tube straight up, in case that is tight, twist it left and right but keep it straight while pulling it out. You'll se an O ring at the base, if it is not there, you'll see the groove where it used to be. Replace O ring and re-install dipstick tube and fastening bolt. The leak will stop.

How do I replace the oil dipstick tube?

The dipstick can be pulled out of the block with a pair of vicegrips and the new one driven down into the block. Before trying to pull the dipstick tube out make sure it is not held onto the block with a small bolt.
