64 miles is terrible.
Spark plugs, synthetic oil, lighter wheels, timing tune...and anything else you can imagine that would reduce friction, weight, and resistance to airflow.

New spark plugs doesn't mean they're ok. Try them with a smaller gap and/or different electrode material.

Is it running rich? Exhaust leak or restriction? Is it modified for horsepower?

    Running rich will do it.

That means it has a richer fuel to air mixture than optimum. That can give it a little more power but eventually causes the plugs to wear out faster and leave the unburned fuel deposits behind.

Basically if you pull some of the plugs and see that they have a lot of carbon buildup and/or smell like fuel...that's too much. Try running a 1 higher heat range plug and retest your voltage through the ignition system...weak ignition will cause incomplete fuel burn too.

There might be a sticker on the underside of the hood (if you don't have the manual) that describes the plug type and gap you can use.

You can also go with a platinum type if you aren't already, they run a little hotter than copper and might help.

A higher flow air filter will help too.

Why does my 04 caravan drink a lot of gas?

Your fuel sending unit in tank is bad,may be incorparated with fuel pump or by itself.Car isn't going to drink gas that fast unless leaking. If tank reads a half, fill up to see if it's really half empty, and if it is half full, then your driving a gas hog.

My 95 accord waste alot of gas but can't seem to find a leak in the gas tank either my exaust is too big. i can fill it at half a tank and if i drive a mile it will be at empty

You certainly have a leak then. The engine could not cope with that amount of fuel. If the tank is not leaking, check all the flexible hoses and connections, especially those on the pressure side of the fuel pump.

97 sl1 started stalling when 1/4 tank of gas now stalls at 3/4 tank replaced fuel pump and filter/regulator twice runs great when full

It seems that cap of the tank is not letting in air to replace the volume consumed by the engine. Earlier, when it used to stall when1/4 full, there must been less blockage of air but now the air inlet must be really clogged-up,so much so that after being emptied 1/4 of fuel, the negative pressure built up inside the tank is enough to negate the fuel pumps capacity & without gas it will stall the engine which is being deprived of fuel.
One way to make sure that this IS the problem, fill the tank half, do not put the cap try a drive at least for 5 miles & if the engine does not stall, then one can be sure that he cap of the gas tank has to be replaced............sodeep

My 2000 Tahoe will not crank unless you have over 1/4 tank of gas, last week it started dying while driving down the road, After 100 miles it died and then got more frequent and now dies after a mile. It...

Try replacing the fuel filter first and the primary fuel filter screen in the fuel pump may be dirty also. As for the the one in the gas tank which is a part of the fuel pump, your just going to have to keep the gas tank half full and add some fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank for the next feet fill ups. As for the fuel filter along the frame rail on the drivers side, they have a life of 30,000 miles or 1 year and needs to be replaced within those recommended intervals. Good luck and hope this helps, Note: the gas is what keeps the fuel pump cool, so low fuel in the gad tank will have the fuel pump run hotter causing it to fail prematurely

No power when going up hill

when was the last time the truck had a tune up? plugs wires air filter fuel filter and if it has over 40,000 miles a new drivebelt put some STP gas treatment in the gas tank and if this helps the problem replace the fuel filter; the fuel pump is in the gas tank and the fuel filter is underneath the truck normally on the driverside just under the door or the passanger side just in front of the rear tire in the frame

Engine runs bad at half tank or less

Ok ready for this one,new gas cap,its true cars with bad gas caps will cause the check engine light go on,or your problem,it has to be pressurized when full and no air in the tank its ok,but as you use gas and have air in the tank with the low fuel the air pressure is leaking pass the cap, thus losing pressure, too bad you had to fix all the other stuff but look at it as an investment, after this works please give me a fix ya thanks
