I had the exact problem with my 2002 pontiac grand prix. i found a broken vacuum line that comes off the back of the engine. this vacuum line runs down the passenger side top wheel well in the engine compartment. it goes behind the battery mounts then traverses into the big wire harness just below the battery. the vacuum hose was broken there under the battery so i couldn't see it without physically tracing where it went. i took a little piece of rubber hose about the diameter of an aquarium hose and reconnected the hose. i now have cool air. you have to remember that this little vacuum hose keeps the climate control does open as well as close them depending on your hot-cold settings. this all occurs from the climate control knob inside the car. hope this helps. a real easy fix too...........phil

A/C COMP Relay - try replacing the A/C compressor clutch relay # 38 in under hood fuse / relay box . ! Could be shorting out after hot . I don't won't to get to technical on you, doing voltage drop testing on the circuit . If not relay the compressor clutch coil could be going bad when heating up . There are videos on you tube , testing A/C compressor clutch relay .

2000 pontiac grand prix ac problem

If the compressor is working, a mechanic would check the low and high gauge pressure.
The freon has to flow thru the system to work, and the cooling fan draws air thru the condenser to get rid of the heat from inside the car.
If the ac clutch is working but the gauges show equal pressure, the compressor may be faulty.

A/c blowing hot air. 3 out of 5 vents are blowing.

With regards to you a/c not blowing cold there are several faults that could cause this. Your compressor may not be working, they may be a restriction in your A/C lines, your compressor and/or evaporator may be clogged, you may have a leak, or i could be something as simple as fuse.

i had same problem 2 years ago. the actuator door tube was snapped in half and i used acquarium tubing to splice together. The tube runs along the passenger front well well inside engine and meets under the battery carriage. I could not tell anything was wrong without removing the battery to get a closer look. works like a champ now.

Also: there is also an inline venturi filter that fits in the aluminum tubing on the compressor, it may be clogged. You will have to have the freon sucked out to replace the filter. Check back with me so I can help more if this doesnt solve your problem.
