Question about Cars & Trucks
Ford Explorers and Expeditions are notorious for tranny problems. Your best solution is to drain the tranny fluid, remove the tranny oil pan, remove the filter and clean the valve body. After a thorough cleaning install a new filter and replace the fluid. You should be good to go for another 30 or 40 thousand miles

Sounds like its time for a rebuild on that tranny. An expedition is a big heavy pig, get it rebuilt with a heavy duty kit.

what year is vehicle please ?? as people often put it in wrong catagory ,if its mazada 2007 then its dealer only as a computer controls it all and the software is factory encrypted to stop general garages from repairing it .But check for a vacumn pipe loose under bonnet ,thin rubber pìpe from inlet manifold to gearbor or a diaphram switch,

SOURCE: transmission wont shift
check the kickdown/throttle valve cable. It may be bound up and stuck in the maximum position giving you extremely late shifts.
There ISN"T any modulators or vac lines on any Chrysler automatics

I have a Focus that had shifting problems. I tried different fluids, but eventually I tried Royal Purple Synchromax (I believe) and it actually shifts fairly well now. I used to hate the car for this. It has 130k miles and I like driving it now.
