Cruise control light works but have to press down ******* steering wheel to get cruise contol to work.

you have a bad cruise cable, this is a very common problem with the tribute. just go to your local dealer and have them replace it for you, it only takes about 30 minutes to do

I have the exact same problem. Occurred after car was jump started. Havent been able to find any solutions. Did you solve this problem?

SOURCE: engine cuts out when steering
Its probably an ignition switch wire shorting out when the column is being adjusted. Pull all plastic from column and check for loose or frayed wires or loose connectors.
