SOURCE: cant find generic electronic module

You probably have a door ajar switch that is bad. You can check the grounds coming from the switch that goes to the gem module and it should change from open to ground when you open and close the door. If you really think the gem module is bad or want to check it with your scematic. The gem module should be piggy backed behind the fuse panel inside your pick if you remove the fuse panel inside your truck you should be able to access the module but you have to remove the fuse panel completely from the truck to remove the gem module. Good luck with your problem.

Constant clicking from relay fuse box behined glove box

I looked at a ford focus awhile back that had the same problem , relay clicking behind the instrument panel . The relay was the battery saver relay. This vehicles problem was the alternator , but also had other symptoms , lights flickering . The battery saver relay is controlled by the ( GEM ) generic electronic module , fords version of a BCM - body control module , if you know what that is . It's not the relay at fault . Some other problem is causing it to click .There may be a DTC - diagnostic trouble code associated to the problem stored in the GEM . I suggest you take this top a ASE certified repair facility .

Gas gauge shows empty after fill up , then works ok after a few miles down the road

You most likely have a bad fuel level sensor in the fuel tank. This is quite common. It can also be verified in most cases by scanning the Body Control Module (BCM) for fault codes. Please note that this will not show up most of the time when scanning with a generic OBD code reader...They cannot access the body control module. Fault codes for this will show up in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) (accessable to generic OBD code readers) ONLY if it has failed during several trips in succession.

2000 Ford Focus automatic door locks quit working. Replaced Central locking module, but still does not work. All of the doors will only work manually. Remote works to open trunk only - will not work on...

check fuse 63 first.

Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical
  • Binding latch mechanisms
  • Binding linkage
  • Misaligned door
  • Central junction box fuse 63 (20A)
  • Damaged wiring harness
  • Loose or corroded connection(s)
  • Circuit
  • Door lock switch
  • Door lock actuator

It could also be your GEM (generic electronic module) which is expensive as it controls a lot of stuff. A scan tool can be used to cehck for fault codes from the GEM.

Driver side electrical window

the windows are controlled through a central electronic module called a GEM (Generic electronic module), there is no seperate fuse for the window, if only one window works then either the window switch is defective or the window motor is defective, the motor is the most common problem.
