Trans does not shift properly has code p0746

Code p0746 replaced valve body and reflashed pcm still same code what do i proceed with next to fix this transmission ?

Line pressure control solenoid "a" fault test for power to solenoid . basically the pcm has detected a the wrong gear ratio for the gear selected Slipping transmission.

The transmission is controlled by the Transmission Control Unit (TCU).

Throttle position, rpm, and speed are input parameters to the TCU. The TCU has a default set of shift patterns. These shift patterns change over time based on your specific vehicle setup and driving habbits.

The shift patterns are only slightly affected by driving habbits over many driving cycles. But, changing the relationship between the throttle position and the actual speed being reported by the speed sensor can have an immediate effect on shift patterns.

While your speedo may now be correct, the realtionship between rpm and thottle position has not been corrected. That would take a gear change in the differentials.

The TCU can be reset to an inital learn base line. When this is done, the TCU will instantly learn the dynamics of your setup.

Any shop with an advanced ODB scan tool can reset the the TCU. The dealer or a transmission shop would be preferable.

You really should change your differential gears as opposed to resetting the TCU

P0746 Pressure Control Solenoid Performance or Stuck Off
A transmission solenoid is an electro-hydraulic valve that controls fluid flow into and throughout an automatic transmission. Solenoids can be normally open or normally closed. They operate via a voltage or current supplied via the transmission computer or controller. Transmission solenoids are usually installed in a Transmission Valve body, Transmission Control Unit, Transmission Control Module or inside the Transmission and it helps regulate the pressure from the trans fluid pump.


P0446 Evaporative Emmission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction

What does that mean?
Evap vent valve has only one purpose. It closes in order to seal the vent so the EVAP system can pressurize and ensure there are no leaks. Evap vent valve is usually supplied Batt. voltage with key on. The ECM's driver controls the ground, and when grounded, activates the valve (closing it). If the ECM detects a short to ground, and open,or a short to battery voltage on the control circuit, P0446 will set. Code also may refer to ECM detecting that EVAP system is unable to achieve or maintain vacuum during test.

Symptoms
There will be no obvious symptoms to driver, other than MIL illumination.

Causes
A code P0446 could mean one or more of the following has happened:
* Faulty vent valve
* Open, short or excessive resistance on Vent valve control circuit
* Blockage of vent valve
* Bad PCM

Possible Solutions
With a P0446 OBD-II trouble code, here are some things to try:
* Replace Vent valve
* Repair open, short, or resistance problem in control circuit
* Repair open, or short, or resistance problem in power circuit
* Replace PCM

Transmission shifts after I let off the throttle


a late shift is usally caused by a sticking or colapsed spring for the throttle valve on chevy transmissions. it is located in side the transmission in the valve body. this should be serviced by a pro. good luck

Shifts fine untill it goes into drive and overdrive,dut i can manu shift and let of the gas with alot of rpms it changes


Do you have any transmission fault codes that may indicate a problem with the OD control solenoid? if you haven't run this test have the system scanned as a 1st step, but based on what u say I think u have a internal hydraulic leak in the OD apply clutch, this will require a tear-down and reseal of the transmission to correct the problem, which means a complete overhaul or install of a rebuilt transmission, which is the best way to go.

Diagnostic trouble code P1870 (Transmission Component Slippage) is a General Motors-specific code whose set parameters are determined by transmission type and engine size. The PCM monitors and compares engine speed to vehicle speed after the converter clutch has been commanded ON in either high gear or Overdrive. Should the expected rpm ratio exceed predetermined parameters, DTC 1870 sets. And upon doing so, the PCM elevates the transmission main line pressure and stops converter clutch apply.

Once the vehicle has made it to a cruise state, the PCM then begins to monitor the vehicle's cruise ratio. If at some point the transmission begins to slip, P1870 sets and line pressure is elevated in an attempt to stop any further slippage and prevent further damage. This would explain why DTC 1870 Ls often accompanied by a complaint of a hard 1-2 up shift.

When this code sets, it could have any number of causes, ranging from the sump running low of fluid to a malfunctioning torque converter. Take a GM 4L60-E transmission, for example. When it's in Overdrive, the forward clutch and the 3-4 clutches are applied, as well as the 2-4 band. Now add the converter clutch. This is what the PCM monitors at cruise. If the ratio breaks away, the cause could be any of three components, the hydraulics that operate them or the electronics that control them. Fortunately, experience has shown that in most cases, the cause can be traced to some form of converter clutch failure as a result of valve body concerns. With GMs 4L80-E transmission, this code has usually been the result of a cracked converter clutch piston.

Put a line pressure gauge ($55 shipped on Ebay, or visit a local trans shop) on the pressure test port and go for a drive to verify proper line pressure. Base pressure at idle in P,N,OD should be around 70psi and around 140psi in R. Max line pressure should be at least 190psi at WOT in 1st or 2nd, 225psi is optimum. If base pressure is low, trans or pump is worn out. If max pressure is low, check EPC solenoid. If reverse is slow to engage, and line pressure does not come up to at least 130psi in reverse, replace the boost valve with a Transgo 0.049" - 0.500" boost valve (easy fix in pan), and replace the servo with an upgrade servo from a Corvette 4L60E. This will give you a more firm shift and address the DTC 1870 which is common to a weaken Boost valve or faulty EPC valve.

you may be confusing the torque converter clutch engagement with o.d. this trans has a problem with the T.C.C. regulator valve wearing out the valve body bore. this will cause the converter clutch to engage only sometimes or not at all. this will set a P1870 code in the control module. when this code is stored in the controller, ( check engine light may or may not be on), it increases the pressure in the transmission causing the 1-2 shift to be harsh. ask a local tranny shop to scan the vehicle ( most will do this for free) if this is the problem they can either fix your valve body (sonnax parts) or replace it with an upgraded valve body. hope this helps

your trans has lectronic controls to operate the shifting of your trans. If there is a defect, a fault code will be stored in the computer, called a DTC. You need to have someone with a scan tool check for the fault code. It is likely a solenoid that is not working or stuck.

Get the codes first. Autozone can run the test for free on engines, maybe trans codes too. Call your local Autozone or big parts store and ask them.

You may need your PCM, Powertrain Control Module reflashed by a Ford Dealer.
Try disconnecting your battery for 1/2 hour and then reconnect and see what happens. It will run a little rough and shfit hard until it relearns your engine/trans characteristics.

1999 DODG 3500 AUTO TRANS SHIFTS TO 2ND WITH A LITTLE HELP


I have a 1999 Ram B 1500 Van, auto transmission, 5.9 L engine.
Same problem, trans hesitates in 2-3 upshift, sometimes 1-2
to 2-3 upshift. Posts trouble code P1756 - Transmission Govenor pressure too low at below 15 to 20 Psi. Transmission pump shot or valve body leak stops trans from reaching proper pressure to shift, which is minimum 15 Psi.
Either trans is leaking in valve body, valve is stuck, shift solenoid on valve body is sticking, or pump is shot.
