There is a metal coolant crossover tube with 5 gaskets 2 hoses and a thermostat above the transaxle anyone or all of these could be leaking

How to change thermostat


the radiator is filled to the top with coolant and the engine is run without the radiator cap in place, the coolant will expand and spill over as the engine warms up.
  • Drain some coolant into a clean container until the coolant level is below the thermostat housing.
  • Remove the upper radiator hose connection from the thermostat housing.
  • Loosen the housing bolts and remove the housing.

check top radiator hose goes to thermostat housing sound like its leaking if your engine leaking from left driver side on top of engine it has to be top radiator thermostat hose leaking.wait until engine cool down replace top radiator hose see if coolant leaking still occur if so you could have radiator leak.

Replacing thermostat


Easy to do at home. Requires the Coolant to be drained. My symptom was that the car took forever to warm up and the faster I drove the cooler the engine got which sucked in the winter.
1) Locate the Thermostat housing which is located at the front of the Engine, Passenger side, under the Air Conditioning compressor.
2) With the Cars engine cool, place a container under the engine where the Thermostat housing is located.
3) Loosen the Radiator hose clamp on the Housing, and pull off the hose from the housing. NOTE Coolant will start to gush out just make sure that the bucket or container is catching the coolant to avoid any spills. Removing the Coolant cap will make the coolant drain faster.
4) Remove the 2 bolts which hold the housing on the engine block. NOTE Coolant will start to gush out just make sure that the bucket or container is catching the coolant to avoid any spills.
5) remove the old thermostat, you will probably notice under inspection that there are some pieces of rubber seal missing on the valve which allow the coolant to bypass the valve, not good at all.
6) Replace the thermostat with one of equal temperature rating. Also replace the o-ring on the Housing while your at it, most replacement themostat kits have this included.
7) Make sure that the engine block surface where the housing sits is clean, and reinstall the Thermostat and Housing and Radiator Hose.
8) Fill the Coolant resevoir with GM approved Dexcool coolant.
9) Start the engine and check for leaks. Turn off the engine then top off the coolant again. Just be sure to remove the Coolant Resevoir CAP SLOWLY to equalize the pressure or you can get splashed with hot coolant BE CAREFUL!

Where is the thermostat ?

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the radiator to below the level of the thermostat.
  2. If necessary, remove the air cleaner assembly.
  3. If necessary, disconnect the coolant temperature switch at the thermostat housing.
  1. Remove the upper radiator hose.
  2. Remove the mounting nuts, thermostat housing, thermostat and gasket.

Do not pry the housing off.
To install:
  1. Clean the thermostat housing and the cylinder head mating surfaces.
  2. Insert the thermostat into the rear cylinder head housing with the jiggle pin at the top. The spring side of the thermostat should face the housing.
  3. Position a new gasket onto the studs with the seal print side facing the rear cylinder housing.
  4. Install the thermostat housing and 2 nuts. Tighten the nuts to 14-22 ft. lbs. (19-5 Nm).
  5. Install the upper radiator hose.
  6. If detached, connect the coolant temperature switch.
  7. If removed, install the air cleaner housing.
  8. Fill the cooling system. Connect the negative battery cable, start the engine and check for leaks. Check the coolant level and add coolant, as necessary.

How do you remove the thermostat


Hi:
The thermostat is mounted under a metal housing on the top part of the engine. The upper radiator hose attaches directly to the thermostat housing. To remove the thermostat, you must start with a cold engine, and drain the coolant. next , remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing, and remove the bolts holding the housing in place. Remove the old thermostat, and install a new one, complete with a new gasket. Remember to carefully clean the mating surface of the engine and the thermostat housing, to avoid leakage. When everything is reassembled, fill the engine up with coolant, and start the car and check for leaks. After the car cools back off, check the coolant level and top off as needed.

Sounds like your thermostat has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

Jack up the car.
Remove protection cover from under engine.
Drain the coolant.
Lower the car.
Release coolant hose from thermostat housing using pliers.
Remove thermostat housing.
Remove sensor.

Jack up the car.
Remove protection cover from under engine.
Drain the coolant.
Lower the car.
Loosen oil reservoir for servo pump.
Remove coolant reservoir and put it to one side.
Remove screws and outer/upper timing-gear casing.
Remove screws and wire channel.
Disconnect connector.
Remove 4 screws and thermostat housing.
Remove sensor and wires.
Installation
Engine temperature sensor, 6-cylinder
Install thermostat housing sensor.
Position wires in slot on thermostat housing.
Note! The white marks should be positioned in lower opening of slot, from underneath.
Position gasket on thermostat housing correctly and install thermostat housing using two of the screws.
Position thermostat housing correctly and tighten the four screws.
Position wire channel correctly and position wire in channel.
Tighten screw on wire channel.
Connect the connector.
Install outer/upper timing-gear casing.
Install coolant reservoir.
Install oil reservoir for servo pump.
Follow-on work, 6-cylinder
Fill up coolant.
Warm the engine until the thermostat opens.
Switch engine oft and check the level. Re-fill if necessary.
Check for leaks.
Check in VADIS vehicle communication (read-out of parameter values), for current engine system, that the engine temperature shown appears
correct.
Engine temperature sensor, 5-cylinder
Install in reverse order.
Follow-on work, 5-cylinder
Fill up coolant.
Warm the engine until the thermostat opens.
