It sounds like the starter motor relay could be bad. You also can be looking at a dead battery. Try jumpstarting the vehicle.

95 Buick Riviera Died on the highway. 95 buick riviera was making a clanking sound, then I felt a big **** and everything shut off now car won't start, or do anything. what does this problem sound

Your flywheel may have broke or the crank could have broke. If the crank broke the engine is done. Try to turn the engine over by hand. You can put a socket on the crank pully bolt and try to turn it.make sure the key is off and out of the ignition. Sorry for your loss.

sounds like a bad wire connection see they hook that up through the same ign wires the key uses to start it i would pull the auto start module and check for bad conn and on the key not starting it could be a couple of things 1 as explained before bad conn 2 a bad ign switch at the keyswitch

Yea

IF YOU PURCHASE A CHEAP TESTER AT YOUR LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE, YOU CAN ELIMINATE TWO OF THESE POSSIBILITIES. IF YOUR HEADLIGHTS WORK THEN CHANCES ARE THE BATTERY HAS ENOUGH JUICE TO CRANK THE ENGINE. IF ALL YOU HEAR WHEN YOU CRANK IS A CLICKING SOUND, THEN CHARGE THE BATTERY. IF YOU DON'T HEAR ANYTHING WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY, THEN CHECK THE FUSES. YOU MAY HAVE A BLOWN FUSE UNDER THE HOOD. IF THE CAR CRANKS AFTER JUMPING THE BATTERY, THEN LOOK TOWARDS AN ALTERNATOR. I HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR AN HONEST RATING.

1995 Buick Riviera SC: traction and the security light

traction switch is located next to drivers left knee on bottom of dash....you should be able to turn off the traction light there by just turning on the traction control.....the security light is telling you that there is a problem with your security system....could just need a new key with a new computer chip....make sure the key is clean and dry when using so it can read the chip....the security light comes on whenever your start the car and stays on for approximatley 2 minutes and then should go out....it is just a reminder....try this and see if it works....lock the door using the power switch on door.....close door and see if the security light comes on....watch and it should go out after about 2 minutes...if it does then your alarm is activated and working....to disarm you need to unlock the driver door with the key...anything else will set the alarm off and the lights will start flashing and the horn honking...after you set the alarm off you will always have to use the key to unlock the drivers door to turn off the alarm and reset the security system.

Do the interior chimes and headlights turn on when you turn the key in the ignition???? We have a 95 Riv that gave us the same problem. Occassionally we have to put the key in the ignition, turn it on, move the steering column up and down (sometimes roughly) until the chimes etc. come on (some security thing) then the car will start.

Even with a fully charged battery, if the terminals are oxidized, you will have a "break" in the connection when the electrical demand is high (starter draws more than just about anything else in vehicle)
Before worrying about anything else, remove the battery leads and clean them (both on battery and inside surface of cable ends. This cures over 80% of most starting problems and MUST be done before any further testing, or values obtained for tests will be inaccurate.
