If anything is the out of position the least bit there would be a code thrown and you would have had a check or service engine light come on. not knowing if you have checked that or not, there could be several things it could be. without knowing all things you have done I dont want to start throwing things out at you to replace. that could get expensive.

Constant high idling

if the idle is also a bit rough, suspect vacuum leak(s) at the intake manifold gasket(s). this is a very common problem with the 3.5l v6 once they pass 100k miles. mine started leaking at 133k

be sure to use felpro replacements and follow the directions on the package exactly.

I have a 2002 chevy blazer 4wd 4.3l I overheated the engine and blew an intake gasket replaced it but now it shifts at high rpm and idle when started is around 1100 but when I put it in park after I drive...

On over heating an engine there are several items that tend to warp from the heat. The intake manifold required a new gasket so a good place to start would be checking for a vacuum leak in this area as it will alter the idle rpm from incorrect air/fuel ratio mix. Run fault codes to see if any sensors were affected by the over heating engine.

I have a 1996 Mazda Protege 1.5l LX. I just cleaned the IAC valve today as well as replaced the thermostat and then put everything back together. During the rebuild the distributor cracked around where one...

Regardless of anything else, that cap needs to be replaced. It has to be moisture free to properly operate or you'll get arcing and that can cause even more damage.

A vacuum leak will cause the high idle and it is possible the IAC could be damaged. Most of them have small nylon parts in them and get damaged if you use certain cleaners (like carb cleaner) on them. You've also got that ridiculously complicated and expensive IAC (around $400 new) so I'm sure you don't just want to replace it. I've seen used ones on Ebay for around $50. I would save that for a last ditch effort.

Vacuum leaks can be difficult and frustrating to find. A smoke machine helps but they are expensive. If you are a smoker, you can always pick a vacuum port on the engine to blow smoke into. Then, you just look for anywhere smoke is escaping and you found your leak.

Since you had the IAC off, I would pay special attention to the hoses there and the seal between the IAC and the intake.

High idle o n a 1996 chrysler concorde. have change the tps and the idle air control valve. i think its a vacum line but i dont know which one. which one s effect the idle

High idle is usually caused by a vacume leak. First place to check is the cold air intake manifold. All hoses, throttle body, and sensors. Throttle Position(TPS), Mass Airflow(MAS), Idle Air Control Motor (valve) IAC. Controls Idle speed

A malfunctioning throttle system can cause both a high idle as well as an engine stall.

A dirty air intake or cracked air intake tube is often the culprit.
