Oxygen Sensor Connector locations

  1. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
  2. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals +B and HT. Resistance specification: 11 - 16 ohms at 20°C (68°F).
  3. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.
  4. Reconnect the oxygen sensor connector.

Air/Fuel Sensors are mounted upstream of the catalytic converter. They are located on the exhaust manifold side of the catalytic converter (pre-converter - Sensors 1). Oxygen Sensors are mounted downstream of the catalytic converter (post-converter - Sensors 2). The catalytic converter has two chambers (left and right). Bank1 is left, drivers side. Bank2 is right, passengers side. The Bank2 Sensor1 sensor (Air/Fuel Sensor) is the one located on the 'right and ahead' of the converter. The PowerTrain Control Module (PCM) is reporting that the heater or circuit ( wiring / plug-in) of the sensor is malfunctioning.

Air/Fuel Sensor Heater Circuit. (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

The A/F sensors are positioned high in the manifold before the cat and are used to make adjustments to the air/fuel ratio of the fuel injection system. The heated oxygen sensors are positioned after the cat and check the efficiency of the cat (what happened in there as a result of the A/F sensors above). They too can signal changes to the air/fuel ratio. These latter sensors only work when they are hot and need to be electrically heated quickly to give decent information quickly. They work by comparing the oxygen inside the exhaust with the oxygen on the outside.

You could say that the ones before the cat make large adjustments and the ones after make smaller refinements.

It is worth remembering that a fault code could have been stored because at some stage the sensor went outside of its range and for this reason it is always worth cancelling any stored codes as this sometimes puts the light out. There are also several other reasons why a sensor could be showing a fault (it is correctly saying that something else is causing incorrect air/fuel ratio) such as leaky EGR valves or vacuum pipes so just have a look around to see if there is anything obvious.

The DTC code will normally indicate the exact sensor that is faulty or at least showing out of range and not the group of sensors. In this case as you stand looking at the engine from in front of the car it is the top one on the drivers side.

Keep in mind they are sensitive devices (read that as fickle) and although you should start there you can often end up changing more than one and some cases even the cat before you can get them to settle down.

No the wires won't likely be the same length

The front upstream sensors, are not the same
Part # as the rear,downstream monitor sensors

Go to Rock Auto.Com & look up your oxygen sensors
I would get the NTK or Bosch,if they have that

You do not replace the rear sensors, until they fail

You replace the front ones at 100,000 miles or sooner,
if they fail

hello, the banks 2 sensor is located in the exhaust manifold near the firewall and visible from the top, you will need a special o2 sensor socket to remove it.

All 3 of these Codes have to do with the O2 devices. Some are saying the heating elements are returning low signals. These elements are built inside the O2 sensors and are designed to make your vehicle get out of "rich" mode faster.

Bank2 sensor1, Bank1 sensor1, Bank1 sensor2. Check your connections and the wiring leading to these parts.

You may need to replace these O2 sensors if the wires are good.

your truck should have four o2 sensors bank 1 sensor 1 is o2 sensor on cylinder 1 side before cat and bank1 sensor2 two is 02 sensor after cat banks 2 sensor1 is on other side berfore cat and bank2 sensor2 is after cat hope that helps when they read code it should tell you bank1 sensor1 or2 good luck

had a 98 ford explorer with same problem. had 2 o2 sensors in the exhaust change both, if one is bad the other is right behind it. problem went away and didnt have same problem again.

I HAVE THIS CODE IN MY IZUZU RODEO 2003: P0155


this code is oxygen sensor heater circuit range/performance(bank2,sensor1)
the ECM detects the heated oxygen sensor internal resistance is not in specs for 6 seconds code sets
disconnect O2 sensor,switch ignition on engine not running and measure the voltage with a multi meter between O2 sensor reference signal circuit and low reference signal circiut(vehicle side of wiring) should read 350-550mV
possibly O2 sensor broken(faulty) replace

E-Check Light P0125 and pending p1153/p1155. Replaced ECT and codes reappear. Where is this Bank2 Sensor1 located on my 1998 toyota camry v-6 auto with air. P1155Code book described as AF sensor.

P0155: O2 Sensor heater Circuit Malfunction (bank2 ) Sensor 1.

P0141: O2 Sensor heater Circuit Malfunction (bank1 ) Sensor 2.

P0135: O2 Sensor heater Circuit Malfunction (bank1,Sensor1)

P0136: O2 Sensor Circuit Low voltage (bank1) Sensor 2.

P0443 : Evaporative Emission control System Purge control valve.

P1451: Eavporative Control System Canister vent solenoid Circuit Malfunction.

P0161: O2 Sensor Circuit Low voltage (bank2,Sensor2)

P1409: Electronic Vacuum Regulator (EVR) control circuit malfunction.

change the O2 sensors first,Then check the the EGR Vacuum regulator for any Malfunction. Good luck

OBDII scanner show error on heater circuit o2 sensor bank2 sensor 1, I can't seem to find out on my manual cd what sensor is it. It has 4 or 5 sensors possible but doesn't explain bank2 sensor1?


is your vehicle equip with a v6 engine? if so it mean when standing in front the vhicle the exhaust on your right is on bank 2 & the o2 sensor should be mounted there
