Question about 2005 Mercedes-Benz Mercedes Benz E320 Cdi
Merc-benz E-320 ,1997 ,check engine light on."The filler neck leaking.Evap. system leak.System will not pull vacuum pressurize."..filler neck bent diagnosed at the Merc-Benz Service/Westmont Illinois.Gas tank replacement recommended ? As a car user ,I have noticed ,the check engine light comes on if the fuel tank is not full of gas.The orange blinking low gas indicator comes on at a same time `with over a half tank of fuel.No check engine light on if the tank is full of gas. Is this related to the tank evaporation ? Is the gas tank replacement necessary ? This is an older car & replacement cost .Any recommendations ? email@example.com 630-673-7531

hello I'am a mercedes tech. when I service a deisel engine I never put syn. oil in a diesel because it is thin and I don't care what you do all disels leak oil because they have very high compression. I use 20/50 valvoline. As far as your fuel inj, cleaner we use techroline from chevron and when I service the fuel filters I add a filter full of transmission fluid( atf dex. merc.) it helps unclog and properly lube your mechanical fuel inj. I fill the big metal canister 1/2 to 3/4 full of a.t.f.. Also check your inj. return hoses they often leak. they are the black hoses running from the fuel rack to the injecter. replace if oily. If you have miner seap of engine oil do not worry too much about it that is why your car has that huge incapsulation panal underneath the engine and trans. If you have a good leak I would pressure wash the engine and inspect it for leaks. If you can,t find the leak add oil dye and inspect with blacklight. Just moniter the oil level. There is a spec. as far acceptable amount of oil consumption. I believe it is something like 1 quart for every 1,000 miles. You can take it to m.b. shop and have it set up for an oil consumption test if you are not sure. I hope this might help you with your questions.

It is below the tank on the rear passenger side. There is a plastice cover under the car, you have to remove it to expose the filter. It is next to the Fuel Pump.

anywhere from $10.00 - $1200.00 depending on what all it needs and who's doing the work. I wish I could be more specific, but if you just need to put in some gas, you can get that for about $10 a can, but if you need to replace the compresor and all othe required parts it can get pricy for the parts let alone labor- heck the $1200.00 may even be a bit low. Don't mean to scare you, but you have to remember that you are driving a high end luxuary car, and they cost $$ to maintain.Ask me how I know :-)

psi diff inside tank is wrong.
use a OEM fuel cap to make light go off.
make sure it clicks at least 3 times.
