Question about Mercedes-Benz 400-Class

1 Answer

My 2003 S430 doors will not lock all the time. They do work occasionally but we are not able to determine why they do not always lock. The inside lock will lock passenger and rear doors. We changed battery in the remote (key), replaced the key and replaced vacuum system. Nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

Get lots of penetrating spray in & around , behind, down sides everywhere you can, in the area of the door latch mechanism itself, on the door. It's not unusual for them to get partially seized at the linkages and cause those problems. I've had to resort to removing inside door panel, just to get spray on them to loosen them up, then I coat them with white lithium grease spray after.

My door lock buttons dont work inside my mercedes s430

either the lock activators do not work, maybe the handset battery is dead? There is a small lock-activation motor in each door which opens and closes using the "lock" and "unlock" buttons on the handset, but if the circuit to the lock actuator is broken the motor will not work. Try disconnecting the battery under the hood. After disconnecting one post, wait 4 or 5 min and re-attach the battery cable and tighten...this will reset the auto's computer. Maybe that will work.

Why won't my 2000 mercedes S500 passenger door open from outside intermittently

it sounds like the power door lock motor is bad and will have to be replaced. if you don`t want to replace it with a new motor the only other thing to do is try and get a good used one from a wrecking yard.

2001 Mercedes 430 Doors won't lock-trunk won't unlock--OBDII reads 888 Sounds like fuse. Can you help?

Hi, if all of the locks on your Mercedes fail to open (or close) first check your key fob to make certain that its battery is working. Replace the worn out battery, if necessary. If key fob is working, you may have a faulty key fob, which can be repaired or replaced by taking it to your dealer.
If just one lock won't open on your Mercedes, then the problem may rest with broken wiring, a bad solenoid, or perhaps with a blown fuse. Check your fuse box first to determine if a blown fuse is keeping the lock from working. If so, replace the fuse.
You likely have a shorted door lock actuator, which you can replace with a new unit for the lock that is not working. If a door unlocks, but will not lock again, then replace the door switch.

Besides there is not OBD II 888 code, i have never heard or seen it before...

2003 Nissan Murano hatch back door won't unlock or open. Glitchy for a long time, always opened eventually with a ritual of locking/unlocking using the remote/lock on the door, etc. Upon opening,...

I have a 2004 Murano. I opened the small hatch and with a screw driver and someone on the outside managed to open the hatch. The problem appears to be bent pieces inside. After straightening them out and using a good silicon spray, mine works again. It should be lubricated quite frequently.

Without diagnosing this problem myself, the possible causes are MANY!
Best solution is take the vehicle into a Hyundai Dealership and have it diagnosed/troubleshot by a qualified technician.
