Question about 2014 Honda Accord
Our 2014 Honda Accord's battery failed to start the car following 2 weeks without use. the service manager said he has heard complaints from owners that were unable to start their Honda in an airport parking garage when they returned from a 2 week trip. He said car continues to use power while it's off. This doesn't make sense to me. The car has a keyless entry and keyless ignition. Does that system drain the battery to the extent that there's not enough juice to start the car?

The instructions for installing a new alternator usually read to fully charge the battery (12.3 - 12.8 volt range). Otherwise, the alternator will be damaged when it initializes. I have seen some extreme damage result from installing a new alternator with a low-charge battery. The torque required to turn an alternator when damaged in this scenario is unbelieveable!

Replace the copper contacts inside the starter motor, it connects the current to the rotor once the bendix drive gear is engaged with the ring gear.

Throttle Body Cleaning on vehicles without electronic throttle control (most 2003 and down)
You can in most cases repair this slow speed stall or unstable idle by cleaning the engine throttle valve and the idle speed control valve using a product called CRC Spray Throttle valve cleaner. Spray the cleaner into the air intake of the engine with the hose removed from the throttle body, the engine will try to stall so hold up the idle speed manually. Once you have used up about 1/2 can of the cleaner stall the engine out while spraying and turn the key off, disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes and then reconnect and drive the car for a about 25 miles of varied driving modes. If this doesn't cure the problem you may need the fuel injectors professionally cleaned by the dealer service dept.
