DTC P0446: Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Vent System Performance
Circuit/System Description
This DTC tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a restricted or blocked EVAP vent path. The control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve Open and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve Closed. This allows vacuum to be applied to the EVAP system. Once a calibrated vacuum level has been reached, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve Closed and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve Open. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor for a decrease in vacuum. If the vacuum does not decrease to near 0 inch H2O in a calibrated time, this DTC sets.
Diagnostic Aids
?€¢
An intermittent condition could be caused by a damaged EVAP vent housing, a temporary blockage at the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve inlet, or a pinched vent hose. A blockage in the vent system will also cause a poor fuel fill problem.

An EVAP canister, vent hose, or vent solenoid valve that has restricted flow may cause this DTC to set. Using a purge solenoid command with a scan tool will allow vacuum to be applied to the system instead of pressure. With the engine running, the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve open, and the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve commanded to 100 percent, the fuel tank vacuum should not increase to more than 5 inches H2O.

An EVAP canister filter that is restricted can cause this DTC to set. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement .

Disconnecting one component at a time while the EVAP system is under flow will help to pinpoint a restriction in the system


Do you have a scan tool that reads data PID'S ?
Your FTP - fuel tank pressure sensor could be at fault !

    Ignition ON and fuel cap removed, verify that the FTP sensor parameter is between 1.3-1.7 volts. ?‡'
    If not within the specified range, go to the FTP sensor section in Circuit/System Testing.

  1. Install the fuel cap.
  2. With the engine running, the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve open, and the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve commanded to 100 percent, the fuel tank vacuum should not increase to more than 12 inches H2O.

It could just be a electrical problem !
A DTC P1655 set indicates an improper voltage level has been detected on the EVAP canister purge solenoid circuit , Can you check electric circuits with a volt ohm meter ?
Diagnostic Aids
Check for the following conditions:

Poor connection at PCM. Inspect harness connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, and poor terminal to wire connection.

Damaged harness. Inspect the wiring harness for damage. If the harness appears to be OK, disconnect the PCM, turn the ignition ON and observe a voltmeter connected to the EVAP Canister Purge solenoid driver circuit at the PCM harness connector while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to the EVAP Canister Purge solenoid. A change in voltage will indicate the location of the fault.


Test Description
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the Diagnostic Table.

  1. Normally, ignition feed voltage present on the output driver circuit with the PCM disconnected and the ignition turned ON.

  2. Checks for a shorted component or a short to B+ on the output driver circuit. Either condition would result in a measured current of over 1.5 amps. Also checks for a component that is going open while being operated, resulting in a measured current of 0 amps.

  3. Checks for a faulty EVAP canister purge solenoid.

  4. This vehicle is equipped with a PCM which utilizes an Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM). When the PCM is being replaced, the new PCM must be programmed. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming

My check light comes on scanned system found several codes po443 evap,po135 o2sensors all banks,and egr vacuum regulator solenoid circuit can you advise me on next step


the codes should be addressed in the order they show up, so starting with the P0443 (it's a zero not an o after the P, the P refers to a powertrain code).
Have you replaced the purge valve itself, often times this will rectify the trouble.Open the gas cap after driving a while , do you hear a "whoosh" of pressure release? If so likely the valve itself is defective.Replace it reset the MIL and drive to see if light comes back on, if it does ,rescan to see if 443 is still present, if not then move on to new first trouble code.

To cause a P0443, there has to be a problem with the purge control CIRCUIT, not necessarily the valve. Usually they are a unit housing the valve and the solenoid as an assembly. Or it could be comprised of a separate solenoid with vacuum lines to a purge valve. That said, it could be any of the following: Bad purge solenoid (internal short or open) Wiring harness chafing or rubbing another component causing short or open on control circuit Connector worn, broken or shorted due to water intrusion

its all evap system codes. the evap system handles gas vapors from the tank. it wont affect the driveabilty of your car, just the ability to pass an emissions test.

The evaporative emission control system checks to make sure there are no leaks in the lines that run from the gas tank to the charcoal canister and up to the engine. It also checks to make sure the gas cap is sealing correctly.
When you fill your car with gas, the vapors in the tank get forced into a canister filled with activated charcoal. Also, on a hot day as the gas heats up and vaporizes, those same vapors push into the canister where they're stored. But the charcoal can only hold so much vapor. At some point it has to be emptied. The emptying process is called "canister purge." Here's how it works.
The computer orders a canister purge by powering open a purge solenoid. That opens the vacuum line between the canister and the intake manifold. At the same time, it opens a VENT solenoid. That allows fresh air into the canister. So the engine is literally sucking out the gas vapors and purging the canister with fresh air. The computer has to adapt its fuel strategy to take advantage of all the extra gas vapors coming into the engine.
The computer notices the canister is empty when it detects a leaner condition (all the vapors are used up) and it resumes normal fuel delivery. Some car manufacturers then close the VENT solenoid but leave the PURGE solenoid open. That creates a vacuum throughout the entire fuel storage system. Once the correct vacuum is reached, it closed the PURGE solenoid and waits to see if the vacuum holds. If it doesn, the system passes the test. If it detects a leak, it sets a code.
The computer also watches the electrical activity during the testing process. When the computer operates the solenoids, it sees a voltage drop on the line. If it doesn't see a voltage drop, it knows there's a problem with the electrical--either the wiring is broken, or the solenoid isn't working. In this partcular code P0446, the computer has detected an electrical problem with the VENT solenoid.

P1447 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Control System, Purge Flow Monitor
In this evaporative emission (EVAP) control system, purge flow occurs during non-closed throttle conditions. Purge volume is related to air intake volume. Under normal purge conditions (non-closed throttle), the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve is open to admit purge flow. Purge flow exposes the EVAP control system pressure sensor to intake manifold vacuum.

Under normal conditions (non-closed throttle), sensor output voltage indicates if pressure drop and purge flow are adequate. If not, a fault is determined. Malfunction is detected when EVAP control system does not operate properly, EVAP control system has a leak between intake manifold and EVAP control system pressure sensor.

Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

You can generally find a vaccum leak by pressure testing the system. Most auto parts stores sell a vaccum tester relatively cheap. Or you can take it to a shop and they will pump your sytem full of a uv sensitive die and then use a black light to find the leak. If it says vaccum leak at engine on the vent solenoid then all you need is the schematic of your vaccum system to find the solenoid and you should find your leak theoretically.

P0420 relates to the catalytic converter. The computer sees little or no improvement in the exhaust before and after going through the converter. Either your oxygen sensors need replacement (3 total) or you need a new catalytic converter.
What is the mileage on the vehicle? Does it run well? Oxygen sensors generally start to fail after 70,000 miles. Catalytic converters usually fail because the engine is runnig rich and the owner ignores that fault for months. This causes the catalytic converter to overheat and fail.

P1456 relates to the evaporative emission system. This system holds the gas fumes in the system so they are not vented to the atmosphere. The most common cause of this code being set is failing to properly tighten the gas cap after refueling. Take the cap off and clean the sealing O-ring. Put it back on and tighten till it clicks 3 times. Make sure you have the correct gray colored gas cap. Clear the code and see if it resets within a few days. If it does, try replacing the gas cap.
