Car idles very high when first started then a loud humming noise mechanic says its an air diverter valve

He is probably right. It is part of the fuel injection intake near the air filter. Change the air filter if it needs it and check the air filter box and make sure it is sealed correctly. There may be a gasket that keeps that box sealed correctly.

A jolt from the rear of the car when the auto gear box changes in low gear and a noise from the near side rear

jolt from the rear of the car when the auto gear box changes in low gear is a common fault in the older s types. most of the time is a sign of the gear box on its way out. is worth checking gear box oil level and oil quality though. noise from near side rear would probably be the damper rose joint which make a knocking noise when they wear.

A noise has started coming from under my glove box. thi stops when i press in the air circulaion button and immediately after letting go of the circulation button it stats again?? any ideas

Could be something like a leaf stuck in the air system. I would pull out the cabin filter( under the hood, near the windshield on the passenger side) with a phillips screwdriver removed screw and pull out black plastic housing...removed cabin filter, and look inside area for any debrie. You will see a fan inside. Replace that filter every 15,000 or every year.

There is a clicking sound when running the ac and now it is there even if the ac is not on. The noise stops when the air circulation button is on. The noise is coming from the dashboard near the glove box....

you can remove the glove box easily. behind you can see the in cabin air filter panel, which you can remove and clean out the filter or replace. ofter there are leaves or other debris on it that make noise. please note the correct position of the filter. with the air filter out you can switch between fresh and recirculating air, you can see the door open and close. Your owners manual should have instructions. sells new in cabin air filters for very little $ . The fan motor may have debris caught in it as well. With the in cabin air filter out you can listen for noise.

'03 Toyota Corolla- Air Condiotioner making noise...

I've been looking into an A/C problem for my 2004 Pontiac Vibe (which is basically a Toyota). Found something that might help you. Evidently there was a service bulletin (NOT a recall) about this model's M/G CLT relay in the air conditioner system - many of them have proved faulty! That relay is in the fuse box under the hood near the battery. Basically the relay just has to be replaced. Cost of part is around $70. Hope this will help!
