SOURCE: having trouble topping up diff

Some cars, for what ever reason will burn off a quart of oil even if the oil is topped off at the right level. I had a ford trk. that was like that, but when it burned off that quart it didn't burn off anymore. I don't like to run an engine low on oil so I was constantly adding oil,(when I thought about it) If you can find an old mechanic ask him, he may know a reason why.

SOURCE: automatic transmission service adjustments for 2000 mazda bravo

There should not need to be any "adjustments" for a normal fluid and filter service for your vehicle, unless you have replaced some parts of your transmission that requires adjustment such as the gearshift lever, intermediate and overdrive band, throttle cable, or transmission range sensor/switch.

With that said, the band adjustment specs are "Tighten the band adjusting screw to 10 Ft.Lbs. (14 N.m.) then back off 2 full turns. While holding band adjusting scew stationary, tighten the locking nut to 35-45 Ft.Lbs. (48-61 N.m.)

Mazda bravo b2600 1997 2.6 lt petrol

Hello Nick,

20 years... 200,000 km is not excessive... The models we have here in the USA... DO NOT MATCH your "bravo"...

They do that to keep us apart... and all 7 of my steering wheels are on the wrong side ... (down f/10... getting old here
(even the Austin Healey BJ8 & Jaguar V12 convertible)).

but we (USA) do have A B2300, ( also B3000 & 4000 )
F2.5 "gas" engine... FUEL Injected (see injector below)

If your engine pulls and idles SMOOTHLY you might
consider saving ALL your dyno-tune $$$...
and taking over the "service" yourself.

We have parts stores & muffler shop that read
our CODES for FREE... (just watch your wallet).

There is BIG $$$ to be saved if you pay attention to scheduled FLUID & FILTER changes... Particularly RADIATOR, CLUTCH & BRAKE.

I'm suggesting for the price of you "tune" you can
buy a compression gauge, stethoscope, torque-wrench, some SPARK Plugs & be ready for that TRANSMISSION JACK...
when the clutch wears out...

We don't do transmissions WITHOUT a tranny-jack
BECAUSE... the I/O (input/output) bearing will get
sacrificed when the input shaft is left holding the
ENTIRE WEIGHT of the transmission
(IMPROPER HANDLING = lost money).

Always chock your wheels...
Pressure test your cooling system, change your wipers...
check brake pad wear... & never sleep with anyone crazier than yourself (floss teeth).

My experience with the average "DEALER"... was
FIX one... BREAK two.

I simply couldn't afford it...!!

Hi I have 2 Mazda 323's the one is a '92 and the other is a '96 I need to top up the gear box oil (both manual's) and am not sure how? I tried to pour it into were the speedo cable goes but it...

There is a square-headed bolt on the side of the transmission which needs to be removed. Add oil here till it starts spilling out. Filling at the speedo cable only applies to some pre 1990 models.

Place to check and fill Transmission oil in Mazda Protege 1993

Don't listen to the other guy, I own a 1990 1.8L mazda protege with a manual transmission. Yes it will make it easier to hoist it up. I am not going into extreme detail so as long as you know a little about cars this will be a great help.
on the transmission locate the drain plug, it will be on the bottom of the transmission. don't loosen it yet you want to make sure you can fill the transmission before you drain it. there is no fill plug, you have to fill the transmission through the hole the speedometre cable is attached to the transmission. the speedometre cable is straight up and down/vertical, it should be above the passenger side cv shaft coming out of the transmission.
remove the small bolt holding it in place and then pull it straight up and out of the transmission. now drain the transmission. put the drain plug back in and start filling, make sure not to overfill you are not supposed to fill it right full.
Make sure to check the fluid level as you fill, the transmission is at the right level when the gear oil is just at the top of the speedometre gear that is on the end of the cable that is inserted into the transmission.
I believe these transmissions take 75w 90.
Hope this helped you, and maybe future people who view this looking for help.
